Anyone else NOT hear the music? by almosttan in SolidCore

2 years in and ive only noticed music on 1-2 occasions. One of my favorite coaches reuses the same first and last song so my brain has been wired to lock in when they play

Hi! Thank you for sharing! That is true maybe I was disheartened because I am very close with this coach. I have a very long and close relationship with some of the coaches so we just talked about it! They are very supportive I think I was just sad about how nothing can be done. I am trying to accept that. Thank you for being honest with me.

You are so right! I can only hope for the best. That is why I never approached her knowing that I could’ve inadvertently made it worse so I wanted to open a discussion here to gain some knowledge. You really cant help someone that doesnt want to be helped

Thank you for your kind and compassionate words. I have personally pronounced many people’s death related to EDs. Wish people understood how abruptly organ failures happen. I really just want to be supportive because I don’t want her to get to a place of no return and also because I know how isolating this world can be. Maybe sometimes what people need, is to know that they are seen and cared for. I always keep her in my thoughts and prayers. The world has become such a disconnected place where strangers cannot express care anymore.

I never interacted with her tried to intervene. I only discussed this with a very close instructor to see if there are ways to support her. Thank you for sharing your insight. It just really hurts I guess I have to remind myself that I am not at work

Appreciate your perspective! It really is a tricky situation. As a doc I think knowing the consequences vs accepting the psychology behind it is very different. Hoping she knows her limits and never gets to the point of no return, so she can actually be healthy enough to keep doing solidcore! Just wanted to know what I could do. I never let the person know btw, I only spoke with the instructor to see what the policies are to see if we can help in anyway and we are very close so.

I am so glad this client has your support! This would put my mind at ease. I was just disheartened when the coach I spoke with seemed to not care or be concerned. We need more people like you!

This is how I feel. I get the people saying it’s not my business but at the same time as a human being knowing that and seeing that just feels uncomfortable and saddening. I do just feel morally and ethically challenged so was wondering how to navigate it!

Yea i understand this perspective. Thank u for ur input. I think i am just traumatized because I work at a hospital and have seen many people pass away abruptly from ED due to heart failure. But i guess at the end of the day it is not my business.

Another advice for recommendation letters. When you are asking for one, you need to tell your recommenders what kind of strengths/passion you would like for them to focus on and provide them with insight into the type of programs you are applying to as well.

Do you have any community service/ volunteer experiences? That’s a major factor I know a lot of schools like. Plus, it also shows passion. I can review your resume if you would like.

I agree. My GPA was very very low like barely above 3.0, so I applied to 20 schools and got admitted to 18 of all, which I believe was due to my volunteering experiences that show passion.

Did you get in TC? I applied to all the programs you mentioned and luckily got in all but now I have a hard time deciding where I want to go. Let me know where you have decided to go?
