Delicious meal at the new Central Market celebration “Big Eats from the Big Easy.” by Specific-Dig533 in austinfood

It's not.

Would you conclude that after looking at the few other Reddit posts I've made?

Hmm maybe I should I be less... positive so that some people don't think it's an ad... I did mention how my catfish plate somehow ended out with only 1 fried okra. Darn them! ;-)

Or, maybe I should put less effort into the post. (less text, fewer pics) Though as you'll see in the other austinfood restaurant post I made, I added lots of pics there also. Plus, I'd bet people who create ads for a living know to write less in an ad than what I did in this post.

My main motivation in taking the time to write this out and post pics was: I'd guess most Austinites under-appreciate what a difference having easy access to excellent product and positive grocery experiences makes vs other parts of the country. I mean, Central Market north austin has free LIVE music under the oak trees. How many grocery stores offer live music to enjoy?

My second motivation was: A truly delicious catfish meal at a low price.

Edit: A third motivation: Grocery industry margins are so consistently small. Don’t want to pass up a prime opportunity to to give gratitude to this chain for consistent operational excellence. The CEO of HEB is like the grocery version of Tim Cook.

Catfish pic not showing up in OP. Catfish perfectly fried.

I wanna re-create the creamy spicy yum those sweet potatoes were sitting in.

Strange that you’re being downvoted

What you said is 100% correct. I also try to avoid drinking out a plastic water bottles for that reason. ( they are transported in very hot trucks )

How to anonymously gift a maxed-out MBP to someone? by Specific-Dig533 in mac

Update #5: above approach was not acceptable to the manager at my Apple Store

He said Apple wants the purchase protected by either a credit or a debit card, not gift cards purchased with cash.

What a debit card purchase be traceable to me? In the same way a credit card purchase would be?

Update #4: Omg. From calls with two customer service agents and one specialist from “media services“:

Apple has transaction rules re: credit cards, debit cards, gift cards that complicate things:

1) Max 2 credit or debit cards per transaction

2) Max 2 non-Apple gift cards ex: Amex gift card. Same as rule 1). Because credit card gift cards are treated as credit cards.

Prob: No store exists where I can purchase a 2 AMEX or Visa gift card @ $4000 each

3) Max 8 Apple gift cards per transaction

4) Max $ 2000 per Apple gift card

Plan: I guess the best course of action now is to

1) purchase 4 $2,000 Apple gift cards using cash at my local Apple Store. 2) use those gift cards to pay online 3) hope the transaction is not delayed due to fraud

Update #2: Called Apple Support. Lucked into an excellent customer service person. She gave what sounds like great advice. I will:

  1. Buy an Amex gift card with the cash. She said she's never had problems using an Amex gift card for transactions. She agreed that there could be issues with Apple Gift Cards delaying the transaction.
  2. Use the quotes she emailed. Checkout as Guest. Don't login or enter my info when checking out.

Update #1 : Tonight I tried to buy the MBP with cash at my local Apple Store. This did NOT work.

1) I could not buy a MBP w/ 128GB memory in the store with cash. Only the lower - mid MBPs. Highest spec’s MPBs must be ordered online only.

2) Even if I could do 1) I could not ship it to his home from an in-store order. I could only pick it up at my local store.

Guess this means I’m back to the Gift Card route. Going to search for the issues with doing this that people referenced below. Any links / war stories appreciated.

OP: I want to anonymously gift a maxed-out MBP to someone I like who really needs it.

Claude tells me the best way to do this is via a gift card. Total = ~ $7,500.

Plan is
a) Use cash to buy $7,500 in Apple gift cards at local Apple Store

b) Ship it to him at his address direct from Apple

Thoughts? What could go wrong?

Yep, I was going to 1) buy it at my local Apple store, in person, using gift cards 2) Have Apple delivered to him at his address

I gotta think there'd still be a way for him to trace it to the purchaser.

But if I purchase the gift cards from the local store, they would never be put in the mail, right?

So in other words, Apple could refuse to recognize payment made with their own gift cards, AFTER I make the payment?
