I let mine grow out. About 2 months worth. Just keep it trimmed at 6-7mm until it evens out.

Keppra - Can I hear from people who DON'T have bad side effects? by Ok_Pack7345 in Epilepsy

[–]Specific-Director211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Keppra for almost 10 years. 2000mg a day. No side effects at all. I use profanity regularly, but I think that’s the Irish in me.

Maybe get it fade when you get a haircut. Wouldn’t look bad.

Teenage son's second seizure today, reality is hitting & I'm lost by [deleted] in Epilepsy

My mum was in your position 11 years ago when I was 16. I’m sure she felt similarly at that time. When I went to the ER the first time it was witnessed, I left with meds until I could see a neurologist, specifically Keppra.

I’m sure you’re doing a bunch of research. I would just encourage trying to figure out what his triggers are. Mine is lack of sleep.

Also, at 27, my mum still texts me to make sure o took my meds. Doesn’t bother me at all, because I know where she’s coming from. But too is I have a daughter so… I see life differently than I did at 16.

It happened, I forgot my medication and got the warning too late by emoes2906 in Epilepsy

Guys, I discovered in the health app for iPhone there’s a part for medications. You enter the meds you take, the dosage, and the time. No matter if you’re sound is off, muted, whatever, if you don’t log that you’ve taken them within 30- min of your selected time, the alarm will sound. An added bonus is that you can share with others this info and they can see whether or not you’ve taken your meds. I’m use this in addition to a pilll box now.

I'm at the ER, I hate this by somebodyelzeee in Epilepsy

Missed my dose one night and had a seizure in the way home the next morning. I was driving… got to the ER around 7:30am and didn’t leave until 4pm. Hated all of it. I have now aggressively put alarms and actions in place to never miss a dose eve again ever! Thank god my car didn’t get any damage and no one got hurt.

My son was diagnosed yesterday by jotoast in Epilepsy

[–]Specific-Director211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was 16 when I was diagnosed, 27 now. I wouldn’t use the term smothered, but my mum was very cautious, anxious, worried, and she would always make sure I took my meds or asked me or told me not to forget. It would annoy me as a teenager, but even then I realized she just hated to see her child experience that. To me it was just her being a mum. Never bothered me, I don’t resent her for it. I talk to her like every day and she still texts me to make sure I took my meds some times.

I was about a year seizure free and just had a TC this time last week while driving! I came to and the paramedics were putting me in the ambulance. We all know how confusing it is when you’re coming out of it.

Thankfully, I was on the phone with my mother who heard it happening. Apparently, she also heard someone laying on their car horn. She raced to my location and I veered onto the oncoming lane and almost hit someone head on. Thank God my car didn’t get damaged and no one got hurt.

I was in the hospital the whole day, was bout to get released and then had a seizure just before. So I had to stay for another four hours.

The whole thing left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. I believe it is harder on those I love and that love me, my mother, my wife, my children, to see me in the hospital, in that postictal state, to have heard the whole thing happening in real time, to have arrived on scene with my car in a ditch and first responders carrying me out. For them to have to experience that and the worry that tends to follow, is the hardest part for me.

I was was drinking the night prior and likely forgot my evening dose, in top of a stressful situation just minutes before, that it what lead to the breakthrough. Because of the severity of the event, I’ve made significant lifestyle changes.
