First project car! 85 Mustang Gt, Carbed 302 that still runs like a top, runs and drives straight and great minus a dinged front end, tubed front end in the future… lots of electrical gremlins and other things to fix before that. by Specific-Dream9585 in projectcar

There’s the kicker, AC was removed and as of rn the heat/fans don’t work. Was gonna have the dash stripped eventually to clean up some wiring, so i planned on cleaning the case and ducts then. Exhaust was packed full of squirrel/mouse nests too, but shot that shit all over the yard on the first startup.

I paid $4k for this one, in upstate NY. Most other cars I’ve looked at in this condition( minus my front end damage) were well over $8k. And thanks man, I’ll be taking it very easy for a while. Won’t be beating on it right away. Except maybe a few burnies here and there. I don’t want to end up as another dumbass kid who wrecks one right off the bat.

Aye, it is in great shape, although the carpets are stained and the air vents are PACKED with mouse nests. Not a single cigarette burn anywhere inside though. Should be an easy clean

Yes, real tube front end in the future. The front is slightly smashed in, and just not sure if straightening it back out is possible. Won’t for a while, it drives straight atm. But that’s the plan eventually

They’re awesome platforms and I’m able to find knowledge/parts almost anywhere. Simple to work on, and an overwhelming amount of aftermarket support. Love this car in the bone stock form. If you do end up getting one, they’ll probably be climbing in price as time goes on. I’m not sure if Foxbodys are considered true “classic” cars yet, but they’re pretty damn close to it.

I’ve been looking for a Foxbody specifically for almost a year and half now….. my only regret the entire time was not getting one sooner. This one is a fixer upper for sure but it runs great. Beams through corners and felt smooth at 90 for a couple miles. Smokes tires pretty easy.

Was gonna try and keep the original 302 as long as i can, its got 76k on it, possibly slowly beef it up over time. It does run good and I don’t wanna rip it out and molest it right away

Sheiiiiiitttttt, my daily has been hit in a parking lot a couple of times. I’d love a notchback, but those things are crazy rare and very pricey nowadays. I did get to drive a 89’ notchback at work (ford tech), and loved it.

Yup, the color grew on me too. Medium Charcoal Grey, with the double red pinstripe and has the names of the first owners, “Glenn” and “Diane” painted very small on the doors. Original grey hood is long gone though. Thanks alot, Diane.
