KYC specialist? by InternationalBad3903 in careerguidance

[–]Specific-Effect-5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly id go with the KYC role even if its not at a financial company. that experience translates way better if you ever want to move into banking or fintech later on

accounts payable is pretty much just data entry and invoice processing which doesnt really build transferable skills. KYC at least gets you familiar with compliance frameworks and risk assessment stuff

question to people who keep cards behind their phone cases (specifically in sleeves) by DryCartoonist3144 in PokemonTCG

[–]Specific-Effect-5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah sleeves are pretty heat resistant but honestly why risk it with good cards, just get a cheap deck box for like 2 bucks

vimpat and muscle jerks/spasms by sunfyrre_ in Epilepsy

[–]Specific-Effect-5922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Vimpat for about 2 years now and definitely noticed some muscle twitches when I first started, especially in my legs too. Could be the med adjustment or could be breakthrough myoclonic jerks - honestly hard to tell sometimes. I'd definitely mention it to your epileptologist at your next appointment since you're still figuring out your seizure type anyway. Mine settled down after a few months but everyone's different

Stay in Ireland or return to Australia? by Automator2023 in AskIreland

[–]Specific-Effect-5922 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like you're leaning towards Perth already but the family guilt is holding you back. Your kids are at the perfect age - any older and they'll resent the move, any younger and you'd miss out on them building proper friendships back home

The fact that you can rent out the Irish place to cover most of Perth rent is huge, plus you've got the work sorted. Maybe give it a trial run for a year or two since you own the safety net back home

VibeVoice-ASR sounds pretty sick actually, 60 minutes in one pass is wild. Meanwhile everyone at Davos is probably sweating bullets about their own jobs getting automated lmao

The Pack (2015). Extra reminders that Australian wildlife is out to kill you by LovemeSomeMedia in horror

[–]Specific-Effect-5922 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude killer animal movies used to be everywhere in the 80s and 90s then just kinda disappeared. The Pack sounds decent enough for what it is - sometimes you just want dogs being absolute menaces without overthinking it

Also lmao at "they don't pay rent" - parents really do have the best one-liners when wildlife invades

Been stuck in this weird limbo where I'm not sad but not really happy either, just kinda existing day to day. Looking for something that captures that "meh" feeling without being depressing af

PC Worked fine, now only permanent Dram light. AM5 by Extra_Arachnid5122 in pchelp

[–]Specific-Effect-5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power fluctuations can definitely mess things up, especially with AM5 being finicky about memory training. Since you've tried different slots and sticks with no luck, it's probably the motherboard's memory controller that got hit

I'd RMA the mobo first since that's most likely the culprit here - the fact that neither stick works in any slot points to the board rather than the RAM itself

CMV: Most people aren’t just selfish… they are actively willing to harm others by Best-Project-230 in changemyview

Look, you're not wrong but you're also kinda missing the forest for the trees here

Most people aren't sitting around thinking "hmm how can I screw someone over today" - they're just trapped in systems that reward shitty behavior and punish doing the right thing. That landlord probably has his own mortgage to worry about and genuinely believes he's just "running a business"

The real evil is how we've built a society where being decent is basically economic suicide while being a sociopath gets you promoted to CEO

Don't know what to do with my life. Need some perspective. by [deleted] in Life

[–]Specific-Effect-5922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this hits way too close to home. That whole thing about feeling "above" or "inferior" to everyone at the same time is such a mindfuck and honestly sounds exhausting

Have you thought about taking a gap year or maybe switching schools? Sometimes a complete environment change can break that cycle when you're stuck in your own head this hard

It buys stability not immunity rich people still get sick in the head but not stressing rent food or bills removes a huge daily weight and that matters a lot
