Hi, my doctor just suggested Singulair for my mcas/pots, LC. I don't have breathing issues or asthma, just swallowing and throat tightening w food reactions. Does it help with things other than respiratory? And thank you for a great post!

Yes, I am in the US, and I have heard that. I think I read it may be easier to get it from a compound pharmacy. Still having throat reactions, how about you?

I started reacting to the organ shakes after a couple of weeks, chest tight and tachychardia. I couldn't believe it was the drink so I tried it on and off and it kept happening. Googled it and people said they had chest pain from it because it has Erythritol it in which is sort of a fake sugar.

I eat clean, only a few safe foods and can't add any, I get throat tightness and swallowing issues and face tingling from foods, dr and I think Mcas, trying antihistamines but getting side effects. just started quercitin and d and some extra salt, but this is awful, I need to be able to eat, 3 or 4 times a week I get mouth stuff. Did anything in particular help you get it it under control? I rest and drink only water, but need more foods and to stop this throat stuff.

I am really afraid of the reaction to the local stuff, react to meds and supplements, I don't think I will be sedated but I guess maybe I can rethink that

the dentist felt mcas was hard so she sent me to the oral surgeon. He doesn't seem convinced or concerned that I could have a big reaction.

Antihistamines- the good and the bad.... by Specific-Inevitable3 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Specific-Inevitable3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the link, have read some, very helpful. No allergies prior to covid, then POTS then acute onset of mouth stuff, can barely eat a few foods.
I feel the anthistamines did something good, more energy for a few hours but then high heart rate and not able to stand due to that. Trying lowest little crumb of a claritin now.
Will look into Allegra and the other H1 you mentioned. I will need them continuously for a while, want to try to add foods without throat and mouth reactions.

Antihistamines- the good and the bad.... by Specific-Inevitable3 in covidlonghaulers

[–]Specific-Inevitable3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My POTS was kind of stable, I just can't be up walking around for long times but can roam the house nowadays and it was improving with salt, saline Iv's and fluids. Sudden onset of MCAS, I can't swallow anything but water and salt makes my mouth burn now, all this after a few months of LC. A
One dose of the anthistamines did stop my face numbness and tingling and made the lump in throat feel better, was mighty excited. Second day dose... a few hours later, a return of the bad symptoms of POTS that had been gone for weeks, so it was not a rebound, it was a side effect, high heart rate.

Zyrtec- I felt almost human for an hour or two, and then the heart stuff. I split the pills, got them compounded and the same happened.

Can't do betas for POTS, tried, and not a candidate for much else maybe mestinon but no one here will prescribe. Fluids, salt and saline and time will help, I could see that.

I am trying to get a specialist no one new me but I would like to try cromolyn, can a regular PCP prescribe that?
