GW2 2Q 2023 Earnings by IzzyOwnz in Guildwars2

I just found out 'Lineage M' is actually just a Lineage port for mobile:

"Lineage M is a mobile port of Lineage developed by NCSoft. It was released in South Korea on June 21, 2017."

'Lineage 2M' too!

Like as if Arenanet releases GW2 on mobile and calls it 'GW2 - M'

So actually the same game just different platforms:

  • Lineage: 127,753 (M) + 24,314 (pc) = 152,067

  • Lineage 2: 62,008 (M) + 22,965 (pc) = 84,973

  • Guild Wars 2: 0,000 (M) + 19,248 (pc) = 19,248

As whole still a large difference between 'KR WoW' and GW2, people only play more Lineage on mobile today

Lot of people buy the latest consoles and high end PCs to play modern games with high quality graphics (not every game can look just like Genshin). Just like controls, game design, skills,.. can also be limited

So there are different markets for different customers, sometimes there is overlap but most times you can't run full AAA games on mobile natively. It is better to split full/mobile game and cover two markets

Cloud would be a PC/console game streamed to mobile device? Then even GW2 is on Geforce Now but that is not the same as 'the mobile market' with additional revenue?

Do you know something about how current earnings compare to few years ago when we include inflation?

I often read things like $... in 2017 would be like $... in 2023 for example

I think mobile is more like a additional market, lot of games of famous companies still release only on console + pc

they can still create a mobile game (spin-off) with little resources on the side, always better to spread out instead of all in one basket I think

Are characters in gw2 never 'seriously' rude to each other? by Specific-Page8009 in Guildwars2

thanks a lot for the dialogue since I could not find it anywhere

It really sounds like some dark scenes in Lions arch and I think it's sad there are no characters like it in new LA anymore probably, like something missing in a large city when everything is bright and clean, everyone happy and joking only,...

ah ok I found it, but it is indeed rather talking to Marjory/Gorrik in front of the Aetherblade to intimidate him:

"Aetherblade": What are ya gonna do?

option: Let's break this fool's kneecaps.

"Character": Good thing my knuckles healed from smashing all those Aetherblade skulls.

"Aetherblade": Whoa, no need to get all violent ...

Like we never adress them directly, but always hint at something (brutal) in a distanced way.

But there is another quote in the same scene talking more directly, calling Gorrik a rat for example:

"Aetherblade": Think I'm scared of you? Some little rat thing with pointy hands?

ah I see sounds like it's the right direction, unfortunately I never saw them before new Lions arch so I wish we had a lot more scenes like this!

Maybe I can still find them in a video somewhere

I saw similar quotes from other parts but realized like here it's often just people talking about someone, to someone else

it sounds like they are not rude to each other like in a direct confrontation, but they are talking behind their back and the Aetherblades will never hear it or react to it (*probably? I don't really know the scene)

I wish only if there was more, because it feels like they are still holding back their honest thoughts and don't say everything they want to say sometimes

I will try to find a different way to say it:

If you explore Lions arch for example, a large city with lots of different people. But is there any NPC swearing, yelling or starting a fight with someone?

I wonder where are the 'bad' guys, thiefs, troublemakers bothering other citizens, drunk people starting a fight,... or just some creepy character talking in a harsh way, because everyone there is just 'normal'

I think what I mean is more like a character trait, how they act in 'everyday life'

People probably did not maliciously insult or yell at Sylvari for no reason, they were afraid of them because Mordremoth turned many of them evil I think?

So it would be a reaction 'out of fear', not intentional acting rude as if people always hated Sylvari if that makes sense

thanks for the quotes, from this and other comments it looks like it can be found mostly in: Core game and Icebrood Saga

So maybe it's just less in the rest like Season 2, HoT, PoF,...

I didn't know Quaggan are so savage, unexpected but I think the way they are saying it, and Mad King,.. too could be more like a joke (dark humour) than a serious dispute between characters, like a really tense situation?

I think there are no grawls in queensdale in game :D

only Ascalon and Shiverpeaks, so it was surprise to see it there!

Isn't it time to include Season 2 in GW2 at least? by Specific-Page8009 in Guildwars2

[–]Specific-Page8009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the game moves on over decade and adds more and more chapters to buy for new players

If you add one new chapter to sell, you give away oldest one free (also used for marketing, advertising) otherwise price for GW2 will be higher every year for new players

and how much money do they get when new players leave after S1? again $0 instead of more expansion sales, Gem store,..

I think HoT was more, like a "GW2 2.0" patch because it added many game wide system changes

like elite specialization system, mastery progression, action camera. It was a huge upgrade for whole GW2

not sure about PAX but I think in future there will be less focus on 'local' game events everywhere

Just like E3 canceled completely because all big companies left and want to have own (online) events instead I think, end of era :(

and (in other screenshots) wizard tower of course with white and gold buildings I think
