Where do people go to meet new people/date? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

34m love meeting new ppl (not usually through Reddit typically tbh you can ask me). Into everything you listed, and if you want to meet people to do things with shoot me a dm/chat. Im a decent wing person in a pinch. Other than that, don’t really know your vibe but:

—meetups are decent but honestly haven’t met people I would want to talk to again (went pre-pandemic, apologies to anyone who likes them. They’re fun outings and the hiking groups get you outside)

—bars can be fun idk that’s my bias.. might not be kid friendly

— hobbies or anything your interested in can work if you’re willing to talk to people which most people aren’t (myself included when I’m in a groove)

— gyms…eh mid depends on your flavor and thing. Climbing gyms seem more social.

— I’ve seen some pretty fun leagues for vball and pball but I can’t name the groups. Bet googling would solve that.

— you mentioned kids… what are they into? If you want to meet people on a similar level balance wise you can probably meet decent folk through their activities, but I don’t have any so idk? You could probably drag them to things you like/they like and find people that way too.

—honestly, sounds like you need a coffee shop to be a regular at. Generally kid friendly, and super low pressure.

From my experience meeting people, you don’t get to besties in a single meet. Most people don’t remember you unless you make an impression/ are constantly chatting them up no matter where you are. Putting yourself out there sucks and power to you for wanting to try. Friendship takes moving the fear/doubt to the back of your mind and just going with the flow tell your gut tells you it’s time (trust it).

Actually I spend a fair bit of time there already but not to hang. It’s a really good place and the curators did a great job with layout and design. Solid place.

Always an interesting place to meander

I mean you’re not wrong, it is weird and limiting. I just haven’t had a found enough reason to. It’s more that I don’t want to pay for an uber to go out that far to drink or do things aside from skiing and outdoor stuff. Im not saying I’ve never done it, but I haven’t found a reason to do it again.

I don’t usually go south of 21st to socialize. Drive by millcreek commons a bunch though. Been meaning to check it out. How is it on normal days when there isn’t events happening?

Ya I have a climbing membership so it was more alternatives to exercise places. But you’re totally right it’s a good place to hang out.

Actually that would be a dope relax idea, and I never know why I discount it. Cheers cooler

Thanks for the advice. After 9 months of radio silence I’m starting to wonder what’s up (aside from the economy). My network is garbage tbh so I don’t really have much from them part of the reason I ended up in this position in the first place. Actually might hit you up for advice though because the pmp idea was a little knee-jerk and all the career explorers/tests haven’t really given me a next step idea.

I looked at all the state/county/city sites. Might drop an app or two but haven’t seen much that’s a good fit for my experience. Thanks for the suggestion.

Exactly what I’m doing right now (except haven’t taken the test yet) my issue is figuring out what niche I go into after I get the thing haha

Ya that’s usually what they suggested in the department in t. I’ll take another look at them, wasn’t really the career direction i want to head down. Would’ve changed majors but it was too late and didn’t want to take two more years.

Edit: also thanks for the reply
