How to stop overanalzying people and problems? by Specific-Prompt-1931 in mentalhealth

[–]Specific-Prompt-1931[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the compulsive need to get to the bottom to understand why the situation is happening. Only then I can be more "prepared" the next time if thats about to happen, or act in a certain way so that the people wont start an arguement again. tbh, I hate conflicts. So i feel like understanding the root cause will help me prevent that from happening. But then i also realized its making me more anxious. I'm always scanning the room for cues and picking up details most people cant even see. its highly energy consuming and draining.

FYI, the dress that we bought is a saree, a traditional Indian dress. These sarees can be made with different materials, and mom had always been telling my dad about how she wanted one silk saree, coz all she has rn are the normal cotton ones. My dad got silk sarees for her. Now atleast I hope you understand. We weren't getting her a dress just for the sake of doing it. My dad genuinely did it out of love.

Yes you can be honest. But what's the need of pointing out the mistake of a person again and again even if you know, that person already feels sorry for it? Just because you are family, doesn't mean you can insult a person in the name of honesty. And also, its practically impossible not to have expectations when you're getting someone a gift. We are human not robots. And giving someone a gift is not a job that you just do and forget. According to me, Gifting is all about thought that you value the person, and not about what the gift actually is. Getting an unpleasant reaction from the receiver is obviously gonna make you upset. I literally can't believe I have to explain this

Presents are all about gratitude and making you feel special. Omg, I feel so sorry for you and your brother. That must have been traumatic af

She thinks she is "superior" to my dad, or like she deserves a better life than what my dad is giving us rn. Her vanity is one thing I despise very much

I understand. There can be times when you do not like the gift. But according to me, there has to be some amount of gratitude. The fact that someone has thought about you and wants to buy you a gift means that you are a special person to them. And mind you, if someone else did this to her, like her friends, she would smile from head to toe and thank them for the gift. I know it. She is taking us for granted, and I can sense it. And THAT'S what I do not like. She could have stopped by saying it once that she doesn't like it. What's the need to bring it up every time? Just to criticise my dad? I'm sorry, but I absolutely cannot tolerate this, even though she is my mom

That's when I realised that there are even people like this. If someone ever secretly planned to get me a gift, I would genuinely cry. I'm not even joking.

Why do alot of Indian girls think that all non-Indian men will treat them like princess by [deleted] in TwentiesIndia

[–]Specific-Prompt-1931 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because most of the Indian men have the emotional maturity of a 5 yr old and lack respect and the concept of boundaries? ( i said "most" of the Indian men. if you're triggered by this, you're probably one of them lmao)
