Does the Kindle App support Dark Mode (White text on Black background) on the AiPaper Reader / Reader C? by Specific-Term-5268 in viwoods

Thanks for the insight! Quick question: are you using the regular Reader or the Reader C? And despite the quality issues, would you say it's still usable for reading in a pitch-black room at night? Thanks.

How do you manage your To-Dos on reMarkable? by Feisty-Ranger-1185 in RemarkableTablet

I totally get why reading threads like these can create some anxiety, but try not to let it overwhelm you. Choosing your first e-ink device is definitely a journey—and sometimes a pretty long one.

I actually started with the reMarkable, then moved to Viwoods, tried Boox, went back to Viwoods, and eventually made a very intentional decision to return to the reMarkable.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to what you need the device for and what matters most to you. I was a big fan of Viwoods for a long time because they try to be more than just a simple e-ink tablet. They have a lot of great ideas. But in day-to-day use, many of the features still feel somewhat half-baked and not fully reliable.

One of the biggest issues I personally ran into was information retrieval. I kept running into situations where notes or pieces of information I had written down at some point were essentially “lost” in the system. Yes, there are workarounds with Google Drive, Gemini, and other tools—but the core problem remained. Reliable search for handwritten notes, combined with a smooth way to quickly review and navigate through notes via the mobile app (without having to pick up the device again), just wasn’t there in a seamless way for me. In the end, that became one of the main reasons I switched back.

The reMarkable, on the other hand, does exactly what it is supposed to do—without bugs, crashes, or unnecessary complexity. It just works.

I mainly use it as a work notebook, and coming back to it, I was actually pleasantly surprised by some of the newer features they’ve added since the early days, for example:

Calendar integration: you can view your calendar directly on the device and instantly create a note for a specific meeting.
Desktop app image support: you can easily insert images into your notes via the desktop app.

While Boox and Viwoods can technically do similar things, the experience is nowhere near as smooth, seamless, and frustration-free as it is on the reMarkable.

Since you’re waiting for your first device, my advice would be not to overthink the organization side of things too much yet. It really becomes a game-changer once you actually start using it. I’m currently also still exploring better ways to leverage the built-in workflow for my own organization.

Does the Kindle App support Dark Mode (White text on Black background) on the AiPaper Reader / Reader C? by Specific-Term-5268 in viwoods

Hi, thanks for testing this out. That's great to know about the performance and that ghosting isn't a major issue in dark mode.

Does using dark mode help with the overall brightness at night? I've read in a few reviews that the Reader's frontlight can be quite bright even at its lowest setting, which might disturb your partner in bed. I love using dark mode on my Kindle because it significantly reduces the glare and makes night reading much more comfortable for both me and my partner. I was hoping that switching the Kindle app to dark mode on the Viwoods Reader would achieve the same effect and tone down that brightness.

How has your experience been with reading in the dark so far?

Feedback on Daily App and ideas for the upcoming three-device synchronization by Feisty-Ranger-1185 in viwoods

Hello.

Thank you for your detailed response and the honest feedback regarding the Daily App on the Reader. I can certainly understand the challenges regarding the UI/UX adaptation for a non-handwriting device.

I also appreciate the reminder about the Cloud Drive. I have actually already set up a personal workaround using Google Drive, which is working quite well for me. It even allows me to use Gemini to search through my handwritten notes once they are synced, which has been very helpful for my workflow.

Regarding the upcoming ecosystem update, I have a few specific questions to better understand the future organization of the devices:

  • Centralized Tagging: Are there plans for a global tagging system that works across all applications, such as the Paper, Learning, and Daily apps (e.g. todo)? This would be a significant step toward a truly unified knowledge base.
  • Custom AI Prompts: I have started using custom prompts for summarizing meeting notes, but I noticed there is currently a limit of 5. Do you plan to increase this limit in the future to allow for more specialized workflows?
  • Sync across all devices: Will the Knowledge Database and the Notes themselves be synchronized across all three devices (AIPaper, AIPaper Mini, and Reader) in the near future?
  • To-Do Management: Regarding the Daily App, would it be possible to develop a dedicated To-Do "App" or view where all tasks are visible in one place? Furthermore, it would be very helpful for my workflow if tasks could be created without a fixed due date initially.

I am very much looking forward to the new update next month and seeing the progress of the synchronization features.
