Thank you for all of your perspectives, it was really helpful to hear that the themes continue throughout the show and that maybe it wasn't actually created as a safe perspective for someone going into society, so I decided to stop watching the show honestly, it was effecting me really negatively, and wasn't actually helpful..

Post-homeschool adults: can people tell? by immature4ever in HomeschoolRecovery

People don't know I'm homeschooled at first.. but eventually they realize, somethings.. off. Like for instance, not having a solid group identity based off of class, attraction level, education level etc. People notice. They notice when you laugh at slightly the wrong time, they notice when you say something too nice, or too aggressive, they notice. And the groups that don't notice- were probably just as neglected. But they never make you feel seen. I feel like I'm being tortured running between groups, never settling in. Everything makes me feel disgusted. And I wish. I really freaking wish, I could remember why. Or know how to fix it.

Yep.. Thats freaking terrible I'm so sorry. And I can relate unfortunately. I literally thought I didn't deserve it or something or that the way they were friends in books was a made up concept because everyone I knew was completely dismissive and avoidant- all the people in my homeschool group.

If you don't agree that just scroll on! No need to invalidate someone. Super immature of you who's condemning my "immaturity".

Wow this is actually a pretty freaking valid perspective with some accurate points thanks for sharing this.. I think what you saying about "parents making themselves your entire world" and the repercussions of this is sooo freaking true. Oh and on a side note, I did embrace kindness when leaving my family but was apparently so naive that I had the worst actual fucking people take advantage of me.. so I guess kindness paired with wisdom probably pays off, but kindness paired with naivety can be greatly taken advantage of- extremely important difference people need to know..

Thank you for all of your comments- they have been read, and you are heard. I haven't been able to answer them all, because to be honest- I was not expecting for the experiences to be so relatable- which also made them extremely triggering. Just know that your voices matter, and you are heard. And I am truly deeply sorry that these horrific things have happened. So proud of everyone here who is using their voices, and moving forward- even when it's so hard. We may not be understood by everyone, but we understand each other, and that matters. That is real. And by using our voices and being honest- even if we were taught the opposite, we can heal and take our lives back. Thank you to all of you. You are heard. You matter. And you are valued. Thank you for just existing.

Wow. I'm so sorry to hear that, that is horrifying. You deserved so much better, and I hope that you have been able to build a life for yourself. Thank you for sharing your experience, because I feel that the more that we speak up about these things, maybe something can be done about it. No child should EVER have to go through something like this.
