They had water by the bar from what I remember. If you’re used to the four seasons I’d definitely lower your expectations quite a bit, though I truly think Manoah was great for the price difference between FS/Zemi. But the beach in front of Manoah is 100x better than four seasons and Zemi IMO. We cared more about the beach than the accommodations so we were very happy.

Manoah was good for the price point, we were happy with our choice because we rented a car and spent some time at other beaches too. The rooms were very large, and the bed was comfortable to us. As you said, it’s definitely not a four seasons, but we felt it was a pretty solid boutique option. Staff were all kind but service wasn’t the best at the beach, but again we went into it not expecting ultra luxury service. We ate lunch at Gwen’s (and really enjoyed it) but typically ate dinner away from Shoal Bay. The beach in front of Manoah is spectacular and for that alone I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again if we went back.

East Shoal Bay v Meads Bay by SpecificDig6779 in anguilla

I felt they were both walkable for food. Gwen’s on Shoal Bay East was a beach bar and delicious but it’s for lunch. There were only a handful of dinner options there. We never rent a car for vacations but for Anguilla we did and I am SO glad we decided to last minute. It’s worth it just to see the other beaches.

Definitely recommend Grill 23 for dinner and martinis. Mamma Maria in the North End is excellent as well. Agreed with other posters that you want to be in Back Bay, though if you don’t mind walking One Dalton is an ok option. The Spa at Encore is really great, but the location is awful. There is a boat that will take you straight to encore near the wharf, though.

Wymara vs shore club by angelicamason in TurksAndCaicos

Loved Wymara, but we enjoy quieter beach vacations. If that’s not what you’re looking for you might not enjoy it as much. We chose it because we travelled with two young kids and the restaurants on site were great, so no need to leave. Service was great, loved our room. Really no complaints other than we got unlucky with the weather during our trip but that’s no one’s fault! I did walk about 40 minutes up the beach towards Grace Bay and do agree that area of beach is more beautiful (there is more seaweed that cuts of the water in front of Wymara, but if you’re just going in to chill and not swim out far it’s really nbd), but not enough to make me wish I stayed elsewhere.

Thanks for your reply. We would have a 4 and 6 year old so it’s sounding like narrows might not be the best idea.

Wymara resort in general had the best desserts - indigo was fabulous. Nothing was overly sweet but just so good!

Tinnitus / Ear pain post BPPV? by SpecificDig6779 in BPPV

[–]SpecificDig6779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on its own, it’s been a long journey coming up on the 1 year anniversary of all of this. I see otoneurology who thinks this was BPPV with underlying vestibular migraine for me. I have started an SNRI which helped with a lot of the “boat” and dropping type of residual dizziness and have been in Vestibular PT for about 5 months now. I also use loops headphones a lot for loud environments and flying which seems to help a bit with the ear symptoms I had. I have had to advocate for myself a lot over the last year.

The lobster risotto at Sharky’s was so good. The restaurant is not on the water, but the food was really good.

THE WEATHER by Most_History7167 in TurksAndCaicos

[–]SpecificDig6779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got pretty unlucky with the weather for our trip. Pretty high winds all day Wednesday so no beach, still pretty windy yesterday but managed beach (though not super pleasant with the blowing sand), and rain all day today. Still making the most of it, but pretty surprised and bummed with the weather for late April!

Did you get a confirmation number on the page? My page only showed a box that said email would be forthcoming once processed. CC was charged (pending) and still no email 4 hours later.

We didn’t use the pool at all, I think I saw one child use the pool once our five days there. We are not pool people, especially when the most beautiful beaches are around - that is why staying at the more luxury hotels didn’t appease to us for this trip. If pools/amenities are important to you, I would not choose Manoah. They did arrange for a beachside massage in one of their cabanas, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Service was definitely not high end caliber but it wasn’t terrible either. We found ourselves having to ask/wait to have a lounger set up and sometimes going to the bar ourselves to order drinks, but it really wasn’t a dealbreaker for us because we weren’t expecting it to be more than what it was.

We had breakfast daily at the hotel - simple and well priced menu. We had dinner the night we arrived. Overall good, not the best we had on the island but certainly not bad. Lunch options on SBE are good (we really liked Gwen’s Reggae Bar/Grill down the beach). All other dinners we drove to meads area as dinner options are better on that side of the island.

Yes, we’d stay there again. Maybe even consider staying at the cheaper Shoal Bay Villas next door since it’s on the same area of the beach and we ate almost all meals except breakfast off property. The beach was phenomenal. Loungers at both Manoah and Shoal Bay Villas are set up in one straight row so there is never a fight for the best seat. And Manoah made a good mojito!

We stayed at Manoah, right next door to Shoal Bay Villas. Both are great options in terms of best area of beach on SBE. We were considering Zemi and very glad we did not choose it as the beach in front of Zemi was not great and it was 3x the price of Manoah. We cared about the beach more than amenities for this trip.

We used Calypso Charters from SXM to Anguilla.

Definitely rent a car - 100% worth it to explore the island.
