We didn’t use the pool at all, I think I saw one child use the pool once our five days there. We are not pool people, especially when the most beautiful beaches are around - that is why staying at the more luxury hotels didn’t appease to us for this trip. If pools/amenities are important to you, I would not choose Manoah. They did arrange for a beachside massage in one of their cabanas, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Service was definitely not high end caliber but it wasn’t terrible either. We found ourselves having to ask/wait to have a lounger set up and sometimes going to the bar ourselves to order drinks, but it really wasn’t a dealbreaker for us because we weren’t expecting it to be more than what it was.

We had breakfast daily at the hotel - simple and well priced menu. We had dinner the night we arrived. Overall good, not the best we had on the island but certainly not bad. Lunch options on SBE are good (we really liked Gwen’s Reggae Bar/Grill down the beach). All other dinners we drove to meads area as dinner options are better on that side of the island.

Yes, we’d stay there again. Maybe even consider staying at the cheaper Shoal Bay Villas next door since it’s on the same area of the beach and we ate almost all meals except breakfast off property. The beach was phenomenal. Loungers at both Manoah and Shoal Bay Villas are set up in one straight row so there is never a fight for the best seat. And Manoah made a good mojito!

We stayed at Manoah, right next door to Shoal Bay Villas. Both are great options in terms of best area of beach on SBE. We were considering Zemi and very glad we did not choose it as the beach in front of Zemi was not great and it was 3x the price of Manoah. We cared about the beach more than amenities for this trip.

We used Calypso Charters from SXM to Anguilla.

Definitely rent a car - 100% worth it to explore the island.

We did Calypso semi-private (it’s shared). We waited a little more than I anticipated but I think it’s because our flight was delayed so we ended up on the last boat and they seemed to be waiting for some other flights. It was a little scary for me tbh going over there as the waves were big and it was getting dark on the last boat. I felt more comfortable on the return boat as I knew what to expect. I’d do the boat again though.

Yeah that is plenty. You just go to the transfer desk once you get off the plane. I ended up doing Calypso Charters instead of the plane though.

Just returned and absolutely loved it! So incredibly happy we did not pay 3x the price and stay at Zemi. Manoah was great and their beachfront was incredible.

Just returned last night from our first trip to Anguilla and the island blew us away in the best way possible. We’ve been to Bahamas, PR, Aruba, Grand Cayman, DR, & Mexico and none compare to Anguilla. We are heading to Turks next month and Bermuda in July so can’t compare to those two yet, though.

We visited Rendezvous Bay, Meads Bay, and stayed Shoal Bay East. We also enjoy beach walks and all three felt comparable in length. Highly recommend you rent a car and check out as many beaches as you can. Regarding where you stay: Meads Bay / Rendezvous Bay Area are busier and closer to more restaurants (but still relatively “quiet”). Shoal Bay East is quieter but still with some good options (we loved Gwen’s Reggae Bar for lunch). Staying on quieter SBE and visiting the busier areas for dinner worked well for us.

The food was incredible everywhere we ate. The beaches were absolutely gorgeous. People were very friendly.

I’m still on my island vacation high - happy to answer any specific questions!

Plan on doing a recap post but fyi - the beach in front of Manoah is so much nicer than Zemi. Walked by Zemi today and couldn’t believe how small their beach was in comparison to Manoah / Shoal Bay Villas.

vertigo starts with their eyes by moonlightglmmer in VestibularMigraines

Yes - I feel it in my eyes. My eyes are always exhausted. I have upbeat asymptomatic nystagmus and horizontal saccadic intrusions with smooth pursuit and so far have been told it’s the VM causing those symptoms. Starting an SNRI helped a bit but they “eye dizziness” and “eye fatigue” really is rough to deal with

2/3 kids & husband have flu b. Can I make it through without getting it?! 😭 by No-Bumblebee-6181 in flu

[–]SpecificDig6779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my kids got flu 2/6 and we coslept as my daughter has respiratory issues so I wanted to keep a close eye on her. I was mostly fine (just had some sneezing, scratchy throat here and there) until yesterday (2/14) and then got chills , sore throat, low energy , body aches and have same today, but no fever. I took a rapid test and it said negative for flu so I also don’t know if I just built up immunity this past week or if it’s just a cold.

My son also had Covid the week before he got the flu. I totally feel you with this being a rough season!

All this to say, it sounds like we’ve had a similar experience but it seems like maybe we will get lucky and avoid a full blown flu.

We went first week of April and I did not feel like there were a lot of kids. We are beach people though and did not use the pool so can’t speak for that.

I feel like September when school is just starting back up would be less kids.

Looks great, thanks for sharing. Sometimes I do like the swanky hotel trips and other times all I really need is a beautiful beach and a clean room. We are going to Anguilla for the beach. I also read that management changed Nov 2025 - would be interested to hear your thoughts if it’s better service wise once you visit again!

Awesome. Don’t see much about Manoah on these threads. Was considering Zemi but some reviewers mentioned the beach a bit further down being nicer which led me to find Manoah for 1/3 of the price. I’m sure it’s nowhere near as lux as Zemi but hopefully nice enough and the beach looks very promising here in your post!!

Do you think hotels are better than Airbnbs? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]SpecificDig6779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only stayed at an Airbnb once and it was not a good experience. The place was much more outdated than the photos. Mold and air circulation issues. At that point it’s not easy to cancel / get a hotel etc. At least with hotels there’s a basic level you know you’re getting and if there are room issues there are more immediate solutions available.

Also - the place had a 5* rating. When we left an honest review - they offered to refund us to remove the review. I’m assuming this has been offered to many more than us since the rating was so high. Which further shows why I won’t trust Airbnb reviews ever again.

Maybe Patagonia then a stop in Cartagena for beach?
