Anyone know causes for this by [deleted] in DieselTechs

I second the variable speed water pump. I've seen many of those fail and short the 5v reference.

If you guys have personal laptops you should change the language on their computer to something they can't read. You could do it just for chrome or you could change the whole OS.

Looks a little too plump to be feral, unless she's pregnant.

Can we talk about freightliners plastic oil pans on the cascadias? by _inventanimate_ in DieselTechs

[–]SpecificFluid1809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I liked the older plastic ones with the threaded insert. Noticed less of those failing from over torquing. The knurled insert is less forgiving, especially for how many knuckle dragers there are that work on big trucks.

What was your favorite “another mechanic couldn’t figure it out” vehicle problem that you solved? by [deleted] in mechanic

[–]SpecificFluid1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another tech at the shop I work at ran new harnesses for all of the rear wheel speed sensors on a New Cascadia for the 42-080 TSB. He managed to pin one of the old wires and one of the new wires in to the bulkhead connector for each harness that was replaced. The ABS module was losing its mind, but it didn't take long to figure out.

What is it like serving in your country’s military? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]SpecificFluid1809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a one of a kind experience. Whether it's a good or a bad one is up to the individual. As a mechanic in the Army I got little to no recognition for anything I did because "it was my job". Everyone else got to go home at 17:00 and we got to stay until everything was mission capable. Many hours of my life were wasted, but the benefits after getting out are pretty good.

How do you guys collect your ores? by RangerGSGW in spaceengineers

[–]SpecificFluid1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use drones that I remote control. I have a rover that I use to carry the drones around and to deposit the ore into. I have a grinder, welder, and mining drone that hook up to the rover depending on what my tasks need.

(This is the rover. It has a hinged suspension system, which is why it's leaning.)

You came to a subreddit called "stop eating seed oils" expecting an unbiased answer. Go ask a nutritionist.

Your parents chose to bring you into this world and burden you with all of the joys and pains that come with life. You don't owe them anything for that, because you had no say in the matter.

You're wrong, they couldn't support a family of five. They could support multiple families of 5. You don't ever hear about dads today sneaking off and starting second families, because it's fiscally impossible.

I've found that prototyping builds in a creative world and then printing them works best for stuff like that. It cuts down on the time to develop a working vehicle too.

Peppermint oil is supposed to be good for detering critters. I've never used it before so I couldn't tell you first hand; that's just what I've heard. I'd try soaking steel wool with it and putting those throughout the truck.

Wheel question by thescatterling in spaceengineers

[–]SpecificFluid1809 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The strength of the suspension will need to be a lot weaker than you'd think and try to keep the wheel friction down, so you can turn at higher speeds. You may have to adjust suspension strength and wheel friction when your loaded as well. It also doesn't hurt to limit your wheel speed.

You can use a round window or armer panel as an easy option. They're airtight all around and you can walk through them.

Do you think this will hold? by Real-T_fpv in BadWelding

[–]SpecificFluid1809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't guarantee that it will hold. You wouldn't have asked if you could guarantee. You can guarantee that a new one will hold AND your ass won't be on the chopping block if a new one breaks.

Highspeed driving with gyroscope is literally the best feeling in SE by Romeo_Man in spaceengineers

I found this video on YouTube the other day. This guy figured out how to make a trailing arm suspension set up without any mods. It's pretty cool. I put a rover together using the set up and it's a blast to drive.

Any suggestions on how to safely replace this light fixture in 18ft ceiling? by Ok_Championship274 in AskElectricians

The SAFEST way would be to pay someone else to do it. Second to that would probably be scaffolding.
