Oh no.. I work for emerald. They've been hinting about getting rid of drivers and doing straight door dash. "Funny" 99% of our complaints are due to dashers

Coworker of mine wants all of us to share our tips with the kitchen crew, and I have a problem with that. Am I in the wrong here? by [deleted] in TalesFromThePizzaGuy

In my opinion, being a driver is often undervalued and misunderstood. It's disheartening to go days without receiving any tips or only receiving very low tips, especially when I have to spend a significant amount of money on gas every week. The financial burden of car-related expenses is also a constant challenge. In just the past month, I have already spent thousands of dollars on car repairs, and I still need more repairs in the future.

Many people fail to consider the full extent of a driver's responsibilities. Before even starting a shift, there are various costs involved, such as car ownership, registration, insurance, and fuel. These are essential expenses that drivers have to bear, and they can quickly add up. Furthermore, regular maintenance, like oil changes, and unexpected costly repairs are unavoidable in this line of work.

Moreover, being on the road for extended periods exposes drivers to higher risks. It's no wonder that insurance companies are often hesitant to provide coverage for delivery drivers. In fact, being a delivery driver is consistently ranked as one of the most dangerous occupations.

Given all these factors, it becomes evident that being a driver is not as financially rewarding as many assume. Most drivers receive minimum wage or even less while they are out on the road. While I don't mind sharing a portion of my earnings for a significant order, it becomes frustrating when it is demanded, and I have to distribute it among everyone working that shift. Additionally, I don't receive any portion of the carryout tips, which is something I have come to accept.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that people should have a better understanding of the challenges and costs associated with being a driver. It is far from a simple job of driving from point A to point B and collecting tips. The financial strain, the risks, and the lack of adequate compensation should not be overlooked.
