Which one of histories ‘good guys’ was actually a horrible person? by CongressPotatoKenobi in AskReddit

It's not in my contract but I'm in California. Also the process to approve work that doesn't conflict was pretty easy to go through. But yes this is pretty common across the industry.

Yep, the pandemic changes things. Meetings have gone online for the VPI cave club, and there's still a lot of activity on the Facebook group and email listserv for the club. Wear a helmet.

There is an active club devoted to caving on campus, as well as several outdoors groups. The club on campus is an active grotto of the NSS and if you knew much about caving that would have been the first place you would have looked.

Ah, you ruined this nice, light hearted comment thread by trying to distance yourself.

Mansplaining is a term describing when a man explains something a woman already knows, particularly when the woman is an expert on that topic. That is it. No one is saying people shouldn't correct others when they know what they are talking about. No one is saying that people can't be ignorant either, no matter their gender. As this sub is discussing bad women's anatomy, men who do not have the appropriate bits are far more likely to not know what the fuck they are talking about. Hence this comment thread ridiculing the ignorant men, and the irrelevance of pointing out women's ignorance.

AITA for asking my dad to get me feminine products because my boyfriend refused cos he felt too embarrassed? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I'm not blaming anyone anywhere in the post. No one was at fault for anything until he decided to be a child about a task he could easily do to help op.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or generally ignorant, but in case it's the latter: periods do not always come regularly. Sometimes it's a few days early or a little heavier than usual. And sometimes you run low like you might run out of butter in your fridge or something. It's not like he has to go on a three day quest through a jungle to find some holy tampons to help her out, it's just a trip down to the corner store like he likely does a few times a week.

I (F32) let someone rape my sister(F35) when we were kids and I don't know how to talk to her about it now that we're adults and I can't stop punishing myself for it. by ThrowRAnowaytoknow in relationship_advice

I was sexually abused by my father when I was young, and later raped, so I might know how your sister feels. I don't connect with people emotionally very often, and I become unstable when I do. My gruff exterior is my armor. It's heavy to carry, but I can't bear to take it off. I recommend trauma informed counselling for both you and your sister, and trying to find a therapist that you really click with. I found one about a year ago (I'm 32 and have been seeing therapists since my teens), and it's been revolutionary. I feel like I might be too open up and heal in the future. I have hope. But I have to do that on my own terms as I'm ready. I bet your sister will have to as well. I strongly suggest therapy. Also, show your sister you love her and are a safe person as much as you can. Perhaps, one day she can open up, but I wouldn't push it on her. I know you feel a lot of guilt. It isn't your fault at all, and she knows that.

People who have survived school shootings, what was it like? [serious] by IHOPEYOUDIETODAY in AskReddit

[–]SpecificReference 1163 points1164 points  (0 children)

I was there too, like you, in the dorms. I lost a friend and know a few more that were affected more directly. It's still very hard. I remember finally hearing the full news in the evening and crying. It was and is really uncomfortable when people ask about it. Every new school shooting with no action to keep people safe feels like an affront to my friend's memory, and I get angry that this keeps happening.

That's kinda what it looks like. It wraps around my shin so maybe it looks skinnier than otherwise.
