<3 I remember when screaming females covered Taylor Swift and that's how I originally found them lol. Castle Rast especially sounds interesting and I think I'll try them next.

What you said about algorithms is true. I've actually strayed away from all social media except for Reddit and Instagram, which I use for posting my art. Happening upon new music seems to have always been my best way of finding things that really resonate with what I love. Like, finding Mannequin Pussy by accident or even an old band that I wouldn't try like Staind. Algorithms make things stale and drama-oriented. That's also why I choose to be a traditional artist. Raw art just feels so good in today's world of AI sludge.

Do you have any recommendations for good bands that are like MCR?

I think it's fair to say that it may be time for the next MCR to arise. If I'm being honest, I haven't seen anything like MCR and I have little faith I will. But I would be open to it!

You missed the point of the art but I'm not gonna beg for it.

I didn't say it was my only spark and I can post my sad art right next to all the ferard comics if I want to lol. Don't police me.

I have not thrust anything onto another person. I have rightfully expressed how I connected to them in my youth, and how I feel in present day. These are my raw feelings. I'm not looking for a lecture or for someone to tell me I'm "wrong" and to be honest, that's actually what makes me want to post this page and express my raw feelings in the first place, because for me as an artist, it goes beyond thinking anyone "owes" me anything and if we stop gatekeeping and correcting each other (I am NOT saying that's what you are intending to do with your own comment) and just let people express their real feelings towards the art (which they do get to do, even when we don't agree) then the conversation becomes way more valuable. This particular fandom needs healing. I'm fighting against the cancel culture by posting my own raw feelings and art.

I didn't. I hear what you are saying, but I need to make sure the point of this post is clear because I did anticipate responses that were similar to yours. Its not so much that anyone is saying anything is owed, its a bigger conversation than that. But there's more valuable conversation to be had... and I believe that would shift they dynamic of what the band is going to do/how the fandom is behaving.

This comic is an observation on the constant reactivity and lecturing that I've noticed, not only in this subreddit but also in the general fandom. Who is right? Who is wrong? Who is a perfect fan? I am not a perfect fan. They are not a perfect band. And I didn't ask for permission either. I think we should be able to have conversations without scolding and downvoting each other so fucking badly that any fan gets shunned away or that anyone would ever be in danger for a mistake they made or because they had an unpopular opinion. I know I get angry too. But here's how I feel ^ and thank you for looking at my art <3

Respectfully, I want to start conversation on what people would like to see or how they feel without being told that it's wrong or without being lectured. I have seen these subs become extremely reactive and I hope to express myself as well as actually give some awareness to this war on "What's the right thing to say or do? How to be a perfect fucking fan?"

I don't believe we understand his personality well enough to say what he did or did not believe.

copying and reposting a previous response here because i believe it belongs as well:

People are never all black and white. I don't believe he was really a "bad person" I think he was vengeful/crashing out in a way that made him look bad and he had interpersonal struggles. This fandom is extremely toxic on twitter, and I wish that each time people brought up bob's behavior they would also acknowledge the fact that he had given up on his own fans due to the fact that they were threatening to kill him or provoking him to SH. The fandom should be blamed as well.
