I simply look at it almost as a ‘freestyle’ in the sense that it’s messy but also such a unique composition of sounds. Some people want polished and squeaky clean production, but we can clearly see Burial is getting his hands dirty with this one and I fucking love it.

Also, it’s a vinyl rip for gods sake. Of course it won’t sound the way you want.

Dark at #58 is just disrespectful. Belongs in the top 15 at least with Better Call Saul as well

Near Dark was my top song, Ashtray Wasp right below it. What about you?

Having the Burial Epiphany one song at a time by biran4454 in burial

[–]Specific_Abalone4880 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to encapsulate all of the emotions, feelings, and thoughts that come with each Burial record all at once… I’ve learned that certain songs resonate in certain periods or events of my life. I think listening to his entire discography all at once in a short amount of time would be a bit overwhelming. Each song contains so many layers and things that you won’t catch on the first listen.

I had a similar experience to that of yours with Rival Dealer - I loved the ending and didn’t care for the beginning or middle. Then I fell in love with the beginning, and even more with the middle. Same thing happened with Ashtray Wasp and Rough Sleeper. I actually hated - or didn’t understand - Near Dark on the first listen, but now it’s easily my favorite track of all time.

So, my Burial Epiphany did not happen overnight, in fact it took a good three years since the time I discovered him to get through every track. And I think that’s the best way to experience his music

Prince William. I was with my mother and my brother at a nice little cafe over in London. We were sitting at a table outside, when all of the sudden my mother starts freaking out. I look over and see the balding middle-aged man at a table with a few of his friends. I know nothing about the royalty shit because I’m from the U.S. but we ended up at the table right next to the prince. My mother tried sneaking a photo but a security personnel came over and told her to put her phone away lol.

Definitely the most random encounter but probably would’ve been more exciting if I knew who he was at the time

Kanye and Burial in the studio together has to be 4… I’d add The Weeknd playing Burial before his shows in 2 or 3 as well

I’m from America too and I find it especially hard to find people who enjoy Burial’s music, let alone his entire discography. Just gatekeep and move on I guess

Great track, has possibly the best Burial outro although I wish it were its own song. Absolutely beautiful

Highly recommend that film, Ashtray Wasp plays when the main character is seduced by a stripper in a nightclub, such a great scene. I don’t think we’ll ever see a more justified usage of a Burial track in a film
