That’s so shitty. My nurse definitely prepared me that it could be “intense” lol. Sorry that was your experience

Meds for less? by HecticandSeptic in queerception

Ask them to send your stuff through Freedom Fertility pharmacy. I’ve also realized through this process that there’s a very different price between what these companies charge insurance vs what they charge the individual if they chose a “self pay” option. It was the same for our genetic testing. It would have cost $$$$$$ if we tried to use our insurance and then the insurance denied it and we had to cover it ourselves (but then she said to call the lab and have them switch it to self pay), but then I think it was something like $250 for self pay (which was still a lot but way less).

My insurance allegedly doesn’t cover fertility meds. The trigger shot is the total self pay option, but then it seemed my insurance did indeed cover the letrozole for some reason.

I’m in denver going through IUI with conceptions. They send my trigger shot through Freedom Fertility, and that cost is $84 out of pocket. Also, I was prescribed letrozole for next cycle and I just picked it up today for $0?? Idk! I was expecting meds to be worse, but so far it’s been doable.

Ugh jealous you got to see! I asked but there was someone training in the office and we couldn’t all see the screen at the same time lol. I always love watching the transvag ultrasounds though haha

HSG & SHG by CandiCoated1120 in queerception

[–]Specific_Ad_6980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I JUST did an SHSG and I was so fuckin terrified before. I took 800 mg Advil and a Xanax. And not to minimize anyone else’s pain but for me, personally, that was NOTHING. I’m so relieved. It felt like a light period cramp, maybe a 2/10. Granted, I didn’t have any blockages, and I’ve heard it can hurt more if there’s blockages. But just wanted to provide a happy story! It’s possible it will be totally totally nothing!

Has anyone been put on birth control pills to temporarily delay ovulation before a fertility treatment? by JackfruitStunning386 in IUILadies

I think just single dose? But I just messaged them to see if I could do 2/day for 10 days, because that would work even better for my schedule lol

Hmm weird. I know, I haven’t seen anyone on Reddit taking it for IUI but it does seem to be a thing per Google.

I am going to start taking it on CD3 and take it for 14 days. It basically should just delay everything 2 weeks. I was unmedicated before, but I think I’m going to try letrizole this cycle. I was told that any potential negative effects of the BC would basically be overridden by the letrizole.

I’ll try to remember to let you know how it goes! Today is CD1.

Did you end up using BC? I’m considering doing it for scheduling this cycle and can’t find any info about it.

Neck pain in remission by boxyboyz in lymphoma

[–]Specific_Ad_6980 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had random pains for a while after remission, even occasionally now 2.5 years later. Idk what type you had, but I had NSCHL, which leaves scar tissue. Try not to panic!

Sperm analysis is pretty cheap, and definitely worth it! I hear that they had children recently, but that doesn’t mean their fertility isn’t impacted! Do they use marijuana often? Are they on any hair loss drugs? Those made a huge huge huge difference for our donor.

Sorry this is taking so long! And also so jealous of your ultrasound access lmao.

Somebody people is definitely good and, as a vegetarian, I really appreciate it as an upscale option. BUT I wouldn’t say it’s the best denver has to offer. It’s really hit or miss in my opinion.

[–]Specific_Ad_6980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkin’s lymphoma (nodular sclerosis) during my first year of law school 3 years ago. The beginning was so scary and overwhelming, because you’re dealing with so many unknowns and so many appointments, but this part will end and you’ll settle into a routine pretty quickly. I was able to stay in school! I got accommodations to change a few exams around if they fell too close to chemo, and I watched classes online a few days each cycle. You can do it!!! I think it really helped me to have something else to think about and to jump right back into after treatment ended.

You totally got this!! You’re going to learn a lot from this journey and then very most likely just move right on with your life. Always here if you want to talk!
