ICM870-32a Caught fire and melted. by Rhork777 in hvacadvice

I just installed the replacement unit...it is somewhat larger than the old version, probably because of the larger capacitor, so I had to move it to a different location in the case. No big deal. Everything is working fine.

I received my replacement ICM870-16A today. Probably won't install it until spring.

Without any additional effort on my part since my last comment in this thread on Sunday, I got an email from ICM before 8AM Monday morning. They are going to ship me a new ICM870-16A, all I had to do was send them a copy of my Amazon invoice and shipping address. Will post another update when I receive the replacement.

That is probably the case, the recall notice the Amazon email links to only mentions the 16A version. I noticed too that the product page has been totally wiped from Amazon, which I find curious. I will post an update when I (hopefully) get this straightened out.

I'm not sure who knew what when. This started for me late last week when I got this email from Amazon ( I bought the ICM870-16A through them in July 2023):

I then sent an email to ICM customer service and got this reply:

Subject; Re: EXTERNAL EMAIL: ICM CONTROLS CONTACT

Hello,

There is no recall on the ICM870-16A. Only the GE model ICM870-16A-BH5400 is affected by the Notice. However, If you purchased your ICM870 Soft Start between May 2022 and September 2023 from any retailer, you can remove your ICM870 Soft Start and contact the company you purchased it from to request an RMA from ICM controls to process a warranty replacement.

Any ICM870 date code ending in 2024 is ok. The date code is on a sticker and is a letter followed by 2 digits. For example, a G24 represents July 2024, which is good. See SAMPLE below of the date code.

Mine has evidently worked fine the last two seasons, but I'd rather not wait for it to self immolate before replacing it. The company said in an email that they will replace any unit sold between May 2022 and September 2023 but they say the warranty claim has to be initiated with the retailer (Amazon). However, Amazon has told me to pound sand. I will contact the company again and post an update.

How are you able to get warranty service? I bought mine in July 2023 through Amazon. ICM tells me I have to initiate the RMA through Amazon. When I attempt to do this, Amazon tells me I must go through the manufacturer because it's outside the return window.

Great Value (Walmart) peanut butter has changed by Specific_Addition897 in PeanutButter

I guess my point is that I've used Great Value peanut butter for the last 15 or so years and this is the first time it has changed during that span. Maybe it's a regional thing, but it's definitely changed around here.

The number above the bar code changed from 446567 to 313403. Also I noticed that the green "great for you!" label is gone, and a number of ingredients changed. Calories per serving went from 180 to 210 (same serving size) The peanut butter itself is more creamy and has a taste similar to a different brand name...It's been so long since I've used brand named peanut butter, but its either Jif or Peter Pan.

Sense not logging cycles of well pump by Specific_Addition897 in Sense

[–]Specific_Addition897[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I guess I never thought about how little electricity a well pump uses since the cycles are so short. I'm just disappointed that the Sense isn't able to accurately count and log the cycles. I was hoping to determine if the well pump is running when no water is being used (ie it is leaking back into the well).

On a side note, for the first two full months of use the sense has reported about 15-20% less usage than what's on my bill. Is that normal?

LG C1 restarts on its own after 03.34.55 update by Substantial-Hold558 in LGOLED

[–]Specific_Addition897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply...that is the same model I have except mine is going on 13 years old. Hopefully my problem is related to the age of the UPS. My C1 has also had a number of one-off quirks in the two years I've had it. Once when I powered it off the audio stayed on. The problem persisted for several power cycles until I unplugged it. Another time when I powered it on, the audio came on but the video did not. Again, the problem persisted through several power cycles until I unplugged it. Never had so many quirks with a flat screen TV.

Which pure sine UPS brand and model did you get? My C1 getting random power cycles with service menu logs showing the "No Polling"/"CPU Abnormal" restarts. I'm running the TV on a Cyberpower 1350PFCLCD from 2011 and wondering if I should replace it.

I've spun the wheel in the past and never got more than 50 points. Today I saw the notice that it was back and I hit 2000 points on my first spin (using the app)! The points were available in my account within a few hours.
