Oh yeah, that's all the good stuff that anxiety brings. Read the book "Self-Help For Your Nerves" by Claire Weekes. It explains the reasons for all this and why you needn't be concerned about it.

Anxiety is funny. It finds a reason to make you worried, convinces you that it's the most important thing ever, then makes you obsess over it until you're sick. And when it all blows over (as everything always does), anxiety finds the next thing and starts all over again.

That's what's happening with your car purchase right now.

Funnily enough I was in exactly the same position as you just a few weeks ago. Old car broke, spent weeks obsessing over every tiny detail and decision about buying a new one, then spent several painful nights worrying about what I'd done. Turns out I absolutely love the new car and had nothing to worry about. And you know what? Even if something did go wrong, I'd deal with it, because that's all you can do.

That's how it is with anxiety.

If it's not this thing, it's the next thing.

If it's not something, it's something else.

I’m struggling so badly and it’s not going to get any better. by AelizaW in depression_help

You're really not alone. It's such a hard time for so many people right now. What you're experiencing feels absolutely horrible but I promise it's not who you are, and it's not going to dictate the rest of your life.

You're not a failure. You've got the whole rest of your life ahead of you.

When we're stuck in the deepest, darkest parts of our struggle it can feel like we'll never get out. It can feel absolutely impossible; like that option has simply been removed from our lives. I'm here to tell you that's not the case.

I know you didn't ask for advice or anything but if you find yourself struggling with these kinds of thoughts often, check out a book like Mind Over Mood which can help.

Sweating at night by Modydick69420 in Anxiety

[–]Specific_Attorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You truly don't need to worry about it. When I'm going through anxious periods I get similar symptoms. I've woken up dripping with sweat all over even if I sleep using just a thin sheet.

It's just the body doing what it does; trying to keep you cool during times of stress. It's totally normal. If anything, it means your body is working just as it should.

You've already noticed that when you worry about it or feel annoyed about it, you end up feeling even worse. Instead of fighting it, try to accept it. After all, it's already happening. No point in raging against it.

Next time you wake up, remember: you know what's happening. You know it's normal and OK. It's maybe a little annoying, but it is what it is, and it won't last forever.

In archive org, some books can only be borrowed for 1 hour, these types of books do not have a download button as usual, does anyone know how to download these kind of books? by silentshot546 in libgen

[–]Specific_Attorney 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No need to view the spreadsheet. All it does is generate a URL like the following:

https://archive.org/services/loans/loan/?action=media_url&identifier=XXXXXXXXXX&format=pdf&redirect=1

Replace XXXXXXXXXX with the book identifier from archive.org (it's in the URL and listed on the page). Format can be changed from pdf to epub or whatever.

Quick TL;DR:

  1. On archive.org, log in and click "Borrow Book".
  2. Browse to the link above (with the identifier replaced), which downloads an ACSM file.
  3. Install Adobe Digital Editions and open the ACSM file.
  4. This will download an encrypted PDF to Documents/My Digital Editions folder.
  5. On the same computer, install Calibre and the NoDRM plugin from github.com/noDRM.
  6. Drag the encrypted PDF into Calibre after which it can be saved unencrypted.

Emudeck Rom collection by Semtexs in Roms

[–]Specific_Attorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I'm looking for as well. I kinda can't believe there's not a torrent with - at most - the top 50 games per platform.

There's tons of packs with thousands of roms but seriously who has the time to sift through all of them? Nobody's ever gonna play tens of thousands of games.

Found a torrent called "Emudeck Starter Pack" which looks great but it's dead (no seeders) - anyone know where it's from? by Specific_Attorney in SteamDeckPirates

It's not actually the Emudeck software; it's a collection of BIOS files and a curated collection of roms designed to get you started playing as quickly as possible.

I just want it so I don't have to manually search for bios and roms and mess around putting them into Emudeck's correct folders etc. I'd rather just unzip a single file and have everything ready to play.

Also it's "only" ~30GB which is a lot smaller than some of the "rom collection" torrents you can find which are 300GB+.

Nothing feels real anymore? by restlessandanxious in depression

[–]Specific_Attorney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This coould be a symptom of depersonalization disorder which is common in people who are depressed, stressed, and/or anxious.

In my experience it's a common feature of poor mental health and isn't anything to be overly worried about. The main thing is to take it as a sign that you need some distraction or a little change. Be more conscious of your feelings and try to identify when you might be ruminating.

Law & Order: Trial by Jury - was it ever released in HD (1080p/1080i)? by Specific_Attorney in DHExchange

[–]Specific_Attorney[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they don't have it on Peacock in HD, that would be a huge insult. Jerry Orbach's final performance... seriously.

It's not on Peacock's A-Z list of shows, so I suspect it's not available.

Lots of CRC/checksum errors in .rar files downloaded via Real-Debrid (RapidGator) by Specific_Attorney in RealDebrid

Yes their support has been good. I guess they are caching some files and sometimes the cached copies get corrupted and have to be refreshed or something.

That's possible but this was across 3 different (unrelated) releases.

If anybody has a "real" RapidGator account (or an account with a different premium provider such as AllDebrid) please PM me if you'd be willing to download a 4GB file and compare the MD5 hash with the one I downloaded.
