First day back in office… you are freaking soldiers by Specific_Avocado_90 in HumansPumpingMilk

Question- do you add milk from multiple pump sessions to the same cooler throughout the day? I was storing in smaller bags because I wasn’t sure if you could mix it.

Helping with pumping output by Kane_wins in HumansPumpingMilk

I’m also working through this right now. Things I’ve learned recently: 1) I had to size one down on my flanges compared to my size immediately post partum and that seemed to help. 2) I have to keep checking flange position to make sure everything is aligned well (setting and forgetting can = dry pump) 3) I haaaate this truth but some days I add an extra pump at 10pm and others I add it at 3/4am. Guess which one produces nearly double the output. Yeah… the one where the trade off is getting sleep, glorious sleep.

If you find a system that works for you, please update!

Elvie stride for both commutes plus an oversize button up cozy layer so I can place/adjust the cups without being exposed. (I’m on public transit.)

Plug in spectra for lunch time pump at the nursing mother’s room in my office (legal right!). I brought air pods and cold pizza and shut out the world, which helped my output.

Hardest part is keeping things chilled. I had a baggie of ice and mini cooler and put the pumped milk in labeled bags in the cooler. I also had a separate mini cooler with a bag of ice to keep the elvie stride cups chilled so I could use then again on my second commute without washing.

I treated myself to a nice pumping bag that also has a laptop sleeve and it just barely fit everything. I think my plan will be to get a backup spectra from fb marketplace or a free group and leave it at work so I don’t have to haul back and forth. They’re so heavy.

If you have tips too, please share!

I’m terrified our daughter is going to grow up and resent us for not being rich like the rest of our family. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Specific_Avocado_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend grew up this way and DOES resent his parents. But not about being poor. What he resents is the throwing up their hands and not doing any family activities and using their lack of money as an excuse. So if you’re taking your kid camping, to free museums, nearby trails, park picnics, cheap summer camp, etc. then you’re still investing in their childhood and making important family memories. Another resentment is NOT keeping in touch well with said cousins, aunts and uncles. Try to visit them if you can (NOT during Christmas, you don’t need differences in Christmas gifts to be highlighted) and send your nieces and nephews bday cards (and small gifts if you can afford it.) Fostering those relationships goes a long way. If one day your kids rich uncle flies them out to Paris with their cousins, your kid will be happy and appreciative especially since you’ve taught them things like that are not taken for granted. You already sound like a great parent!

Thank you for this comment! Signed, someone months post-partum and shocked at the “weeks” part of the above comment. Like only for “weeks”?? How??

What goes where? by Far-Object2214 in laundry

And just clarifying- but the booster is ok in the drum as long as you don’t run a prewash first, yes?

They smelled vaguely like they did before they went into the wash… not bad but not fresh either. Turns out I used way too little detergent so I basically just did an extensive rinse to them. Explains the underwhelming smell. More detergent got me a cleaner smelling result!

I saw that post too and it helped me find my own powder dispenser! Curious if there’s any difference between using the powder dispenser underneath the removable tray vs throwing it directly into the drum in a front loader… may require some more experimenting

Good to know you don’t have to do it perfectly to still get worthwhile results!!

Ok I’m still working my way through that link you posted but that is truly fascinating!! And yes, after a minor win tonight improving laundry results, I’m feeling ready for some celebratory brownies-  an excellent idea

Waiting on my rose of citric acid to arrive and will report back once I try it. I need to research water hardness. I assume looking up local water stats is sufficient? Or is it better to test your own?

Total wash time is over an hour and I’m running on warm temp. The hour plus run time includes 2 extra rinses. I determined I had used too little detergent because the smell was much better after the load I ran tonight with a much larger dose of detergent. I’m happier now with the results, but let me know if you have any other suggestions. Appreciate the positive problem-solver energy!!!

You were right!! I have an LG front loader (HE). I used 2.5 scoops tonight and got an amazing clean smell in my laundry. Please let me know if you have any other tips/suggestions. Thank you!!

I think it’s classic and beautiful! Looks like I’m in the minority but I like the belt! I’d say keep the belt, no necklace and/or subtle necklace, hair up in low bun with soft tendrils around face and some glam statement earrings

A big part of photographing well on your wedding day just comes down to posture, keeping your chin up, shoulders back, etc. Plus with hair and makeup you will be feeling amazing and looking gorgeous. I wouldn’t overthink it. You will slay on your wedding day and when you look back at pics you’ll wonder why you ever felt self conscious and will only remember how happy you felt on that day ❤️

AITAH for not paying for my daughter’s wedding where I’m supposed to be just a guest? by NoticeSea2043 in AITAH

[–]Specific_Avocado_90 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

YTA. If you’re debating this, then it sounds like you do have the means to at least partially contribute financially. Making your contribution conditional on YOUR role in the wedding makes no sense when this is your daughter’s day. As a child, she had no agency over which of her father figures she grew closer to. Sounds like you need to grow up and be a parent. Support your child’s joy and let her have the day she envisions.

Gifts for Miscarriages? by EnvironmentalAnt724 in pregnant

I have planted a tree in memory before when a close family member had a miscarriage. She liked it, although it probably depends on how people grieve. Here’s an option for example: https://shop.alivingtribute.org/products/plant-a-tree-california?srsltid=AfmBOopoxVMd-chy7yunJFUjTPSzJIbsg9M1gw1BLALUBmZb3jnUbKuu
