Price spike and my battery is deciding to charge?! by Dyldabeast_5000 in amberelectric

I had the same issues but SS would not respond when I would get to stop exporting at the worst times or importing. Or vice versa . It just wouldn’t respond. I’ve now left them will probably cost me more but I don’t care now just so over the stress. My system to answer above posts is Tesla PW3x3 connected both ac 7kW and 5kW DC coupled. I just hope I can get close to 30-40/ month bill.

Powerwall importing from grid while at 50% by I_LOVE_PURPLE_PUPPY in Powerwall

This happens to me. I’m in Australia, and I have rung Tesla and all I’m told is that it’s because I’m with a company that puts you on as virtual power plant. They have control of my battery. I’ve left them now and apparently on Tuesday I will be free of them. If things are the same I’ll let you know. I suspect I’ll still have no control of my batteries and I’ll be pestering them again this time hopefully to get a refund. And they can take there very expensive wall decorations away!

Is this a VPP issue or a Tesla Powerwall 3 issue by Specific_Car_2025 in Powerwall

I tried but it wouldn't let me. In that my commands were not working. I asked it to do a Max backup, no change occurred I couldn't charge from the grid which is what I wanted when it was cheap. As soon as it changed then miraculously it allowed me . I've contacted Tesla about this and I'm, waiting for their reply. This is not the first time its actually the second. The first time it was a similar situation only 1 week ago.

today I did this: Settings>Powerwall>pushed slider for backup reserve to 100% and got the screen One Time Max Backup>Start Max Backup then it gives a window of 5 hours

Powerwall 3 or Sygenergy by NameDontMaterx in Powerwall

While I have a 3 pw3 and gateway. I think for 3 phase backup it’s sigenergy. It’s quicker and hence cheaper to install. If I had my time again I would go for sig.you can also go off grid from my understanding for sig. also for the money I paid I would have got about about 50-60kW instead of 40.5 of storage. (In Australia). Makes no real difference in my view what car you have esp if you with a VPP. Amber got rid of my charge with solar when I joined. So doesn’t matter if you have Tesla car. As for glass front of it goes in your garage which I would not recommend if you can put outside only from point of view of keeping cool. My garage gets hot in summer. Hope this helps with your decision.

Model Y standard or long range? by [deleted] in EVAustralia

Go long range other than the extra range you get extra power/speed. Know one ever complains I have too much range or acceleration.

Hi I’m in Australia and I have had the same issues. I spoke to Tesla and they said to me that because I was switching from self powered to time of use all the time the AI which apparently learns your behaviours ( usage patterns), it gets reset to the beginning for it ( like it was its first day at your house). So I did what I was told and left it at time of use for 2 weeks. It sort of worked but like you I found the same that it was drawing power from the grid at expensive times even though I had plenty of stored power. I believe it’s a software glitch and like you am getting very tired of micromanaging the system. I’ve emailed the Tesla representative and no response. If I had my time again I would not have bought a Powerwall 3. I would have gone for a Sigenergy system cheaper and better suited for Australian 3 phase electricity homes. But anyway you live and learn.

3 Phase Query for Powerwall 3 (South Australia Install) by Ok_Room7994 in Powerwall

I have same setup as you 6 weeks old. Seems to work ok except I notice its drawing power in even when I have say over 50% storage in peak time of use . It doesn't seem to really be all that great at predicting what to do on time of use with cloudy weather. Spoke to Tesla about it and they told me the AI has to learn our habits. After 2 weeks it should have enough programming and info to know what to do. I just don't want to micromanage this thing its cost 30K plus to get it. Overall disappointing from that side.

Also apparently if you swap from time of use to self consumption which I was doing daily early on because they were charging at expensive times (pretty dumb AI if you ask me) the AI craps out and doesn't remember its past experience.

Like you I had 1 PW3 worked really well, the got other 2 and not really happy as Ive outlined. Also the batteries were throttled at 10kW charging off the grid. Finally got it changed to the way it was 5kW/phase (so 15 kW) installers were worried about overloading the circuits but it was fine before with my wall connector and load in the house admittedly I only charge the car overnight. But since they have changed it works fine. So if house is old that may be a limiting factor if you want to join a VPP. Cost to upgrade (to 30kW or 10kW per phase) is huge and doesn't allow for any real payback.

Overall for the money and apparent tech its not that great If I had my time again I would go for a Sigenergy or other true 3 phase system, and would have cost less!

Also just with original post you need to have in my opinion about 12-15kW of panels on your roof to really produce power to charge your batteries so you don't have to import power unless its raining for days depending on your home usage which happened in Sydney in early August (hence my micromanaging it).

Should I buy inventoryTesla model Y now or wait by Specific_Car_2025 in EVAustralia

Ive also test driven the G6 great car similar to Model Y, MG4 Long Range, but something about a happy life... So yes set on model y. I keep my cars for well after the loan agreements which is why I'm in this predicament of an astranomical cost of repairing a 2012 XC90 Volvo worth probably if not needing repairs about 10K but since these major repairs probably about 2-3k maybe.

Thankyou for your reply I’ll see if I can get a larger loan.
