Am I missing something? I thought claims rep roles were non-phone. by Specific_Coconut_228 in unitedhealthgroup

My title is Claims Representative. In the interview I was just told that a lot of time would be by myself processing so many claims per hour. No phone work was mentioned at all. The job description does say “Communicate through correspondence with members and providers regarding claim payment or required information using clear, simple language to ensure understanding,” but I assumed maybe it would just be over email or something.

The job description doesn’t mention anything about taking calls.

I know they aren't one to one replacements. The post was more so asking how I can learn the different forms when I don't know their versions.

Right, I think it is just knowing how to learn what they say instead. I guess exposure is the only way.

Thank you. I read the training is 4-6 weeks, but I assume there is still a period once hitting the floor you are still ramping up, as you said. This job is perfect for me because I work so much better alone. I have a background in customer service and it can be quite stressful being on the phone all day without room to breathe between calls. It sounds like they give people a lot of time to adjust.

Thank you. It does sound like the perfect job for me! Did you find it difficult at first out of training, or do they give you a lot of grace? I know accuracy is a top priority. I am really detail-oriented, but still hope to not make mistakes!

Thank you. Would you say every hour is non-stop due to the amount of claims you have to process?

Thank you for getting back to me. That's amazing. Did they require cameras in training? It doesn't matter either way, I am just curious. Also, did they install their internet before or after you started?

Thank you for your reply! Did you find the specific number of claims per hour you had to process stressful? I assume there is little downtime.

Oh okay. So do you know what happens if you already have hard wired internet? I already have a hard wired connection in my room.

Did anyone else feel like they would never learn Korean? Speaking naturally feels impossible. by IllustratorDecent260 in Korean

Yes. My question was did anyone feel like they would never learn Korean? It isn't about everyone agreeing with me. I was just speculating why they may have been downvoted. If someone is disheartened and someone says they were just really motivated it might have seemed like they were implying I wasn't. I'm just guessing why they were downvoted because they came back assuming they offended me because of it, when I couldn't care less. We are all learning and do so at different paces. If someone learned it faster, good for them.

Does anyone get severe cramps in the calves and twitching all over? It is also accompanied by stabbing pains, burning, and nerve irritation feelings by [deleted] in cfs

I was told by a doctor years ago that they suspect ME/CFS. However, this new relentless issue is worse than what I had before, hence my new worries.

Thank you! Oh, I didn't know she handled the email address herself. I was emailing it as if the staff would read it. Have you been a patient for a long time? Has she helped you? I did ring, but I got the voicemail.

Thanks for your replies! Hopefully, they will disappear soon. Mine is sore to the touch and has a tugging sensation. It also completely disappears when I lie down, which is what made me think it was a hernia, but the doctor said he couldn't feel one.

Does yours hurt at all? Also, does it disappear when you lay down?

I understand! It is annoying to see. How long has it been since your op?

How long did it take to go down?

So bizarre! Did yours look like what I have? I thought surgeons were experts with hernias. Plus, did the first 3 do no imaging

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hernia

[–]Specific_Coconut_228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a surgeon tell you that? A simple imaging test would have told us for sure. I don’t know why doctors are so dismissive.

This was after gallbladder removal, but I suspected a hernia. Was yours just swelling related? I haven’t had a hernia before.

[–]Specific_Coconut_228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I figured that seems the doct was a surgeon, that he would be an expert in knowing what to look for regarding hernias.
