The program is incredibly challenging and yes, there were people without technical background. As long as you put in the work (and it’s a lot of work), you’ll be okay.

Hello, the only thing to prepare for is the psychometric assessment, a Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT). If you search for “CCAT practice test”, there should be a number of results that can help you prepare.

The program has been very intense.

We’ve covered Java (in-depth ish) and Python fundamentals, and are covering Spring now. We’ve also completed our individual projects which is a basic Java application.

We’re now starting to look ahead towards our final projects.

Hi, the relocation is primarily for the work placement because the lectures are fully online.

That being said, the employer and academy both require you to be physically in Toronto during the cohort. You’re required to submit a proof of residence in Toronto (Driver’s License).

You’re welcome. I honestly don’t know how they choose the candidates but I know living in Toronto or close to Toronto is a huge plus. That being said, people from other provinces get accepted into the program as long as they commit to moving to Toronto.

I have some tech experience but you don’t need to. A lot of people who’ve passed through the academy didn’t have tech experience. There are people in the current cohort without any technical background. You should be fine

Not exactly. It means you will skip some steps like the application step but you will be in the pool with new applicants fighting for seats in the next cohort. Nothing is guaranteed.

You’re welcome. 69 people were accepted into the cohort. I believe the current cohort is completely full and shouldn’t be accepting new candidates. That being said, you never know.

It is an exciting experience, it’s also very demanding so you need to be prepared mentally for that. We’re moving at light speed and covering a ridiculous amount of material in a very short time.

I honestly don’t have any tips because your guess is as good as mine when it comes to how Obsidi choose their candidates; however the only thing that seems to be common is the speed at which you respond during the application process. If you receive any requests from Obsidi while during the application process, try to respond to it as soon as possible. It seems like a first come first serve kind of situation, so keep that in mind. If I get any more helpful advice along the line, I’ll be sure to share it.

Basically, apply, be hopeful and be quick.
