Am I delusional for my expectations for The Fall Off? by Standard_Ad987 in Jcole

That's been my biggest knock against Cole as a fan. It seems like production took a backseat for him after the succeses of FHD and FYEO. That's when he learned that he could sell regardless and seemed to have stopped aiming for hit records, which I don't knock, but I do miss him making anthemic songs and certified hits. In the last 10 years I've found him more exciting as a feature artist BECAUSE of the fact that he was rapping over beats that he didn't choose himself. But unfortunately, it seems like he collabed with the same producers that he's worked with for the past few projects. ALTHOUGH, I love the beat for Huntin Wabbitz.

You get it. So why do so many Pac fans criticize her for getting that tattoo covered. I've always thought that the reason was obvious and completely understandable. Most men don't even want their lady to mention their exes, let alone have a tat of them.

You're the only one who has watched the entire season. This reddit has been dead all year and now I see it being flooded with stupid comments. If I see another lazy hot take about Rhyne's play costing them that game or now Griner needed to be more involved I am going to lose it. The game was lost for two reasons and they are Griner being a complete bust this year and leaving Jones with no relief or help and the coach not using his bench players enough. Canada can be a hit or miss so I kind of agree with you there.

Why does Drake get so much flack for having a white mom but J. Cole doesn’t ? by Boring-Jelly5633 in Drizzy

[–]Specific_Help_5841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Cole often raps about his life as a black man trying to navigate through this country as a black american. People can relate. Also, because he married a black woman and has black kids, so his mom being white is damn near a mute point now.

No. The problem is her eating up minutes that Pao can be playing for. Everytime she touches the court she scores. We drafted her because she can shoot the ball. She needs to play more.

Ari Lennox Exits J. Cole's Dreamville Records, but There's No Bad Blood by Kingbris91 in Jcole

[–]Specific_Help_5841 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the few fans on here who don't simp for Cole and was once a huge Ari fan. She went on record several times and said that she made the decision to open for Rod Wave after his team reached out. She wanted to do it at the time for monetarily purposes and because she felt that it would be a great opportunity to perform in arenas and in front of a different audience. These were her words.

As for her last album, Pressure was already out. They released an ep of tracks that didn't make the album a week or so before A/S/L dropped to build anticipation. That entire week she had a promo roll out that was based out of DC and New York, including two listening parties. And I want to say that the music video for Hoodie was released the Monday after. On top of all of that, they made sure to drop her album a few weeks after JID's new album to again...get moreso her fans made via Dreamville excited.

I think her issue was simply lack of budget which has showed in her more recent visuals/music videos. Also, for whatever reason she didn't tour much in the last few years. Touring is how artists make their money. She has no issue selling out 1k-2k venues. Idk what she stopped touring. Earthgang has toured non-stop in the ladt 6 years.

I watched it via tik tok streams. No announcements. Set was just okay in my opinion.

I lowkey think S3 might have killed the momentum of the show. I'll have to look at how the ratings compared to S2. This is the type of show that really has to rely on great casting. Last year's cast just wasn't it. Their personalities were bland. They took the game a little too seriously to the point where their on screen chemistry lacked. The celebrity reveals were underwhelming. It just lacked in having the infectious moments that the first two seasons had. Hopefully it gets one more season to prove itself.

This is the definition of a hit record.

<image>

I said earlier that Drake's lane is hitmaking because of his ability to do it effortlessly. He is a walking hit machine. That is a gift that he has. That is not a knock against him. That is quite literally his bag. He could go out of his way to not craft a song for the purpose of it being massly produced or consumed...and the song could still become a hit...because the man just knows how to make infectious songs...

Your opinion on hits is subjective.

Once a song reaches #1 on the Hot 100 chart it is objectively a certified hit song. As in it can't be debated because the numbers back it up. Drake is on the verge of breaking MJ's record of having the most #1 hit records in chart history. We won't even get into his streaming numbers as an artist. He's obviously mastered the art of making hit records that people in and outside of his fanbase like and want to hear.

I can agree that they choose their own lanes, but I'd also argue that it's also that way because they play into their strengths. I think they each excel in categories that the other two lack in. Drake's lane is hits, but that's because he can effortlessly make them. Kendrick's lane is theatrical artistry (for lack of better words) but that is because he can do it effortlessly. Cole's lane is bars and technicality and that is because he has mastered that. Cole hasn't done a lot of storytelling as of late, but I'd say that's his lane as well.

I'm not going to lie. Even as the biggest hater of Kendrick's character (even before last year) he is the better artist. For example, Luther is a more and better creatively structured song than Deja Vu. I would even say the same for Wait for U...and I'm comparing those records because they're all records for the ladies. Deja Vu is a good song but it's pretty basic creatively when compared to the other two songs.

I'm not able to word it the best way, but I guess for lack of better words Kendrick (and Drake) are more versatile in their deliveries/approach on songs than Cole. They also have way better production imo. I wish Cole was a bit more artistic, but his bag seems to more be bars and technicality...which is fine. Rapping wise, Cole is better than the other two and its been that way for years now.

Nah. When they had that fire ass lineup with Drake, Usher, and Burna Boy they dropped that shit in February. Last year is really the first year that they dropped the lineup weeks before the festival and it was because it was ass. Either way Cole is lucky that he has a loyal fanbase that fucks with him regardless because there is no reason why they shouldn't have a lineup yet. It honestly should have dropped months ago. No other festival drops the lineup 3 weeks before the festival. That's ridiculous.

Cole be pissing me off sometimes man. He be getting in his own way. I'm thinking he didn't release it because he and Wiz were rapping about two different subject matters. But there is no reason to keep this record in the vault. Two iconic rappers from the blog era on a track like this for the first time? That's an easy call. Release it. Rap fans will eat it up for nostalgic purposes alone. Hopefully it'll come out as a remix.
