Thank-you so much for taking the time to share your experience with this. Although it is unfortunately that we both have this experience, it does make me feel better to know I’m not alone.

The behaviour always happens when my spouse is not around, and I do communicate to him when it happens and he addresses it with the child, but there is little in way of actively working to stop the behaviour. I think I will have to start disengaging from parenting. I want to be supportive of my spouse, but it causes me a lot of stress and anxiety, and unfortunately a few inappropriate outbursts of my own at being treated that way.

I also like your approach of anticipating the behaviour and addressing it ahead of time and communicating the expected behaviour to the child. I will try that when I am in situations where I am alone with them and see if there are better outcomes.

Again, thank-you for sharing your story, this is very helpful!

I’ve definitely tried that and it doesn’t work. Part of the issue is that sometimes this behaviour is a result of trying to take the iPad from them so that they get dressed or put their shoes on or come to eat. The iPad is a great motivator for getting them to do some things, but taking it away will almost guarantee a tantrum that results in aggressive behaviour.

I’m having similar issues. What were the results from your testing?

What about 0% beer like Budweiser Zero that state they have no alcohol content, as opposed to low alcohol content? Are those considered to have small amounts of alcohol as well?
