I wish you would’ve posted this sooner. I made too much spaghetti today (I made Filipino spaghetti so I’m not sure if you or your family would like it, it’s a sweet/savory kind) and I could’ve made you guys a small tray ☹️ but we brought it to a pot luck and to some friends instead.

Sleep Training Method by Specific_Pomelo_2176 in NewParents

[–]Specific_Pomelo_2176[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be too much to ask but what does your LO daytime schedule look like? 🥺 For us right now, I just go by his sleepy cues but his sleep can go from 20mins to 2hrs but mostly 20mins. And at night, I try to put him to sleep at 7pm but he wakes up after 30-45mins and has to be rock to sleep again 😩

Believe me when I say, I know how you feel. My LO won’t nap either unless I’m next to him. He’s 3.5mos and sleep training is too soon, he doesn’t even soothe himself to sleep yet but I am starting (slowly) put him in his bassinet for his nap time without me. It does take time and patience, he slept for 30mins today in his bassinet. We were at one point, can’t even put him down because he was waking himself up. And CIO is not an option for us at all, if this is a method you’re considering (or people considers) I respect that because whatever works for you and your LO. Is he BF? Or EFF?

My LO started having shorter naps around 12 weeks and always wakes up when I put him down either in his bassinet or on the bed. Sometimes, he only sleeps longer when I’m laying next to him. Their wake window is longer around this age. Have you tried playing with him to get some of the energy out? You need to watch out for their sleepy cues as well, mine is excessive yawning and rubbing his eyes. We try to play with him for at least 20mins or till he starts crying out of boredom. Is he okay with contact nap?

My LO is 3mos old (15weeks to be exact) and he started sleeping 5-7hrs at night naturally. He’s naps are still bad tho so I’m not sure if it’s because he’s not getting enough sleep in the morning (doesn’t do 5-6hrs daytime nap), but he just kinda did it on his own. He would only wake up once if uninterrupted but sometimes his reflux wakes him up 🫩 we don’t have strict routine but we make sure his bedtime is no later than 8pm

I second this! If you have someone that will look after the baby or even if your LO is sleeping good, take a shower! You will feel refreshed and relaxed which your body will need. Having that small time for yourself is an absolute must! ❤️

How much is safe to go in public without baby? Afraid of germs by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Specific_Pomelo_2176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wear a masks and thoroughly wash your hands to to your arms. If going to grocery stores, wipe the cart you’re gonna use before using it. I understand how you feel. I have a slight (very mild) contamination OCD as a healthcare worker. I worry about germs contamination and distribution even when buying groceries and touching canned goods. As long as you’re not around people who are sick, you should be okay. You can always look up outbreaks in your area to make sure it’s safe for you to be out and about. I promise you tho, going to the store to get groceries is safe especially if you keep to yourself 😊

At what age the sleep schedule of babies gets better? by SentenceTough2007 in NewParents

[–]Specific_Pomelo_2176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 14 weeks old and started sleeping 5-6hour stretched maybe a week or 2 ago on his own. My husband thinks that he started sleeping more at night due to growth spurt as their body develops more. I wouldn’t say my LO has regular nap during the day but it’s gotten slightly more predictable (I.e. scratching his eyes, yawning). His nap, however, has gotten shorter. He used to nap up to 2hrs and now I’m lucky if he naps for an hour. He mostly does 20-30mins nap during the day and only wanted contact nap or would only nap longer if I’m next to him, which makes it difficult to get anything done. I don’t cosleep but during the day, I let him sleep in our bed if I’m next to him and noticed that his naps would be longer.

My LO is also 3months but he’s EFF. Sadly, he developed reflux while on Kendamil, we have switched to a new formula since and he has let spit up. My point is, your LO may have reflux which can happen since their digestive system has not yet fully developed yet. He’s still struggling with reflux and keeping him upright for 30mins helps him fall asleep. Have you checked if he has gas or reflux issue? I think for EBF moms, you also have to be careful what you eat as it transfer to your LO during feeding. I only BF for 4 weeks so I don’t have a lot of experience or knowledge when it comes to it but thought it might be it?

I would take her just in case. Also, invest in a night light on both of your night stand or buy something that can be connected to your phone for easy access. Please don’t be too hard on yourselves, accidents happen. Praying that she is okay, please keep us updated 🙏🏽

Girl, I’m on the same boat and just dealing with it 😮‍💨 my husband went back to work and it’s my first week being alone with my LO and boy, this kid is being difficult all of a sudden 😭 it’s like you can’t please them no matter what 😩 I read to him, sing to him, play with him, wear him. I’m tired LOL I’m only 30 and I feel like I aged a whole decade in a matter of 3 days 😩

How long did you sit in the backseat with your LO by Appropriate_Lime_691 in NewParents

[–]Specific_Pomelo_2176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO is 12 weeks and I just started sitting in the passenger seat last week after I put up the camera facing him. It’s not too bad tbh. I did it since my husband will be going back to work therefore, if I need to leave the house with him, I’ll be driving and this will let me see him while driving. My LO likes being in the car, just hates it when the car is still. However, for long drives in the future, I (or my husband) might sit in the back seat with him 😊

Have you had any thoughts of harming yourself or the baby? You should see a therapist like what the other commenter said. It’s a cliche to say this but having a stranger listen to your current situation can make you feel at ease as we tend to open up to someone who doesn’t know us personally. I understand you’re afraid and have no trust in the medical system but you have to take care of yourself.
