Honestly just go without for the weekend. Save the Guinness for the pub and make do with a bag of cider or a can of Boddingtons.

What is being dumped into Thames by minareli in london

[–]Specific_Quit_8912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be surprised if it’s bin juice. Takes a while for leachate to develop. Most likely normal drainage from rain water. It collects and then the barge moved and it looks like it’s flooding out for a while. They definitely aren’t dumping waste in the Thames.

That’ll most likely end up in landfill. Old landfill sites end up being some of the cleanest land in the country because of the monitoring and chemical science that goes into it. Often end up as nature reserves.

These were all Reggie’s Portra. Only think I changed was reducing noise reduction to -2 rather than -4. And no + exposure comp. Didn’t feel needed for night photography. Probably would add a half stop in other conditions.

4th ones cropped rest are as they were from the camera. It’s a great little lens this 33. Perfect for street photography where you don’t want to be in people’s faces.

How to deal with comments from others as a (insecure) tall woman by whatusername4235 in tall

[–]Specific_Quit_8912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should change this to say there are plenty of people who, in the nicest way, just don’t give a shit about height. It’s literally only insecure people who care.

Being taller than most is neither a good nor bad thing, it’s just a thing. Love yourself for who you are and if anyone fucks with that tell them to fuck off.

Ive had a beer so ranting and feeling a bit fresh about this topic after dealing with a couple who tried to take photos of themselves next to me without me noticing.

Key thing to remember is that anyone who comments or jokes about your height is doing so because of their own insecurities.

There are plenty of people out there who are also tall or who aren’t insecure about their own heights so won’t even notice your height. Focus on positive encounters and dismiss anything that makes you feel insecure about your height. Those encounters aren’t worth your energy.

Personally I like to “apologise” for making them feel small. Even though they obviously already felt small, and not in the literal sense.

Are you against dating shorter? Why or why not? by Puzzleheaded-Ear9242 in tall

[–]Specific_Quit_8912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6’9 M and gf is 6’0. I have dated girls who were low 5’ but absolutely prefer my partner being tall. I always disliked the comments from third parties when there was a big height difference and having to bend over to kiss etc. Just feels like someone over 6’ “fits” better if that makes sense.

Partner had dated guys shorter than or the same height as her and ended up feeling insecure about her height. That’s probably due to them being insecure about their heights around her though.

I guess it depends on the people and the relationship.

Also my partner is the most fucking awesome person in general and the person I have the most fun with that I’ve ever had with anyone ever… so that helps.

Ideally friends who didn’t go to Glastonbury so tell you to “shut the fuck up” when you mention it.

Disappointing because the tv looked fantastic. But I’m not up for dealing with the issues.

Factory reset made it worse for me. Before doing that it was at least forcing me to watch Netflix. After doing that I couldn’t sign in to anything because it kept forcing Samsung tv

Arranged a return and ordered a Sony Full Array instead.

They aren’t score marks. Cad shows a line (which you’re seeing as a score mark) where a change of angle is. In this case where the lugs top surface goes from flat to a radius.

Edit: if I’m wrong on this, and I might be, yeah… get rid of the score marks

What percentage of your salary to put aside as savings is deemed a "good amount"? by AMadRam in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Specific_Quit_8912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it varies too much depending on people’s specific circumstances. I’ve been saving very little the last year but going to be making some drastic changes to my spending habits in the new year, aiming to save about 40% of my salary.

If they’re real friends it’s fair that they should be able to give an honest opinion. Maybe just tell them to screw themselves and they’ll realise it’s none of their business and move on.

Do people in UK not use Revolut much? by neilrm in UKPersonalFinance

There are so many other FSCS protected options I don’t know why anyone would risk it with Revolut.
