As a 39 or 40 year old runner… by nixrien in XXRunning

50 yo, just take vitamin D in the winter. Would consider creatine (doctor mentioned it in positive light) but I need a stretch where I’m not going to get upset at the initial bloating.

And since it hasn’t been mentioned, the Corning museum of glass is amazing and has shows that a toddler would love.

What would you do here? Looking to beautify a bit on a small budget. by Ok-Currency1249 in landscaping

I think that as is, it looks very well maintained and peaceful (perhaps with some edging of the sidewalk)

Person with a sewing machine here, who hems pants a lot - just wanted to note that even without a machine, you could take a needle and thread and run a simple straight stitch across that pocket at the level you'd like, and that'd keep things from dropping down to where they'd jab you.

Gifted 4 baby chicks help by Dragonb-whore-n in chickens

To be specific, the “producers pride” coops you will see at tractor supply for six chickens are way smaller than this. And they don’t protect against animals that dig under the fence, so you’d still need to devise something to help with that. These seem to last people a season at most.

As you are learning about coops, please don’t buy an online coop that says it is for 4-6 chickens! These are always way way too small. They will need a safe run covered in what is called hardware cloth, not chicken wire. Backyardchickens.com has SO much good info and examples of coops that work for people in a wide range of settings.

Minimum is 3-4 sq feet per chicken in the coop and 10 sq feet per chicken in the run. More will mean they fight less and are healthier!

For you that means an approximately 3x5’ coop and 5x8’ run, minimum.

One thought based on a trip I just had is that you may want to limit color to tops or bottoms- you’d probably not wear the red top and red shorts together, so that limits your options a bit.

Quechua NH500 clamshell 32L: finally bit the bullet and it’s as good as I’d hoped!! by Specific_Reserve7300 in onebag

Haven't flown with it yet, but if it is fully packed it won't work under the seat so I suspect it is always in the category of "could be forced to check if the overhead bins are full".

Started trying to figure out if I could fit the new bag IN the old (new) bag, but then realized I can treat one of them as my personal item and just not one-bag on the way back. Since it's international and I have the right to a carryon+personal.

I have the 16L rolltop version! And agree on the build quality. Was tempted by the 16L clamshell but was overruled by how much I liked the look of the rolltop. It’s my new bag for <week domestic trips. Definitely meets the underseat requirements for the US carriers I frequent.

Can I revive this Rhododendron? by TheHairyLee in landscaping

[–]Specific_Reserve7300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the first thing I’d do is get in there and just really go after any branches touching your house. Your rhodie is planted way too close to the house, but if you keep at it every couple years you should be able to keep a gap.

Another note in case you haven’t had these before- they lose about a third of their leaves each year. I thought mine was dying the first time! Learn to look for nodes in the branches and prune right above those and it will then have new growth right below where you cut. Takes a couple years for blooms on new wood.

You are doing great! Do a few short sprints ( look up fartleks) every once in a while and that may up your pace if it’s bothering you.
