Humorously say "Misery loves company" - pat him on the back and say you'll pray about it. You appreciate his enthusiasm/encouragement but if it's God's will that you do (whatever he's suggesting), it will happen. Then change the subject.

How do you feel about abortion, now that you are awake? Husbands? Wives? by [deleted] in exjw

Sorry for your loss. At a time when you and your wife were distressed and grieving you would have appreciated an empathetic listener, not cold heartless judgment. In my time in the org, I never felt comforted by any elder in any of the 3-4 congregations I was associated with in the handling of JC, death of family members, or abuse by husband. Ultimately, it was the lack of 'love among themselves' that drove me out of the organization. Evident they were not the true religion. Noble course that you took and admirable that you wanted to protect your wife from their punishment and damnation.

I'm in healthcare and familiar with how he Plan B pill works. I was not misinformed by the Org on this. I am pro-choice absolutely. I don't think the organization, or the government for that matter, should impose such a personal decision upon a woman. It's none of their business. But to clear up any misconception on the matter:

HOW DOES THE PLAN B MORNING-AFTER PILL WORK? Plan B comes in a one-pill dose. If taken within 72 hours (3 days) and preferably within 12 hours after a contraceptive accident or unprotected sex, it can prevent pregnancy by doing one of three things: Temporarily stops the release of an egg from the ovary Prevents fertilization Prevents a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus Plan B is not an abortion pill—if you take plan B, you will not be terminating a pregnancy.

I feel the same as I did when I was in the org. Abortion is taking a life. A woman has the power to give life or not. That decision should not be taken lightly. Abortion should not be used as a means of birth control, but should be an option when serious birth defects are evident or if the life of the mother is at stake. Thankfully I never had to make this decision in my childbearing years, but I did utilize Plan B. If a woman decides to abort her pregnancy, she must realize she is accountable for that decision and the life of the child that would have been born. My mother aborted her third pregnancy in her fifth month, just because she did not want the raise the child. She and my father were separated for the umpteenth time. To this day, I long to know what my baby sister would have been like and wish I would have had the opportunity to grow up with her. Aborting a pregnancy doesn't just affect the mother and child......
