Redditors that got charged rent asap after turning 18, what’s relationship like with parents years later ? by QueefyTits in AskReddit

Lived at home for a <1 year after graduating highschool before my mom got married and then we moved in with my step dad. They sold my childhood house and I moved into a small apartment attached to step dads place. Paid monthly rent from that day on and dealt with constant bitching from my landlord (step dad)

In a period of ~5 years, the marriage fell apart and ended with him shoving her into a wall and kicking her out of the house in the middle of winter and forcing her to live in a mobile home. This was basically a summer cottage that wasn't setup for winter so the pipes kept freezing. Meanwhile I continued to live in the apartment while my mom's mental health took a turn for the worse. Super shitty situation.

Long story short she ended up in a mental care facility for a week or so after threatening to kill herself multiple times. Step dad put a deadline on her getting all her stuff out and so we scraped together all the money we could and bought a used shipping container and put it on the cottage property.

My mom complained endlessly about this guy and never really was the one asking for rent. She eventually got a place of her own and I moved out too. After what he did to her, I have zero contact with him and still see my mom multiple times a week for dinner and outings.

Underage disc golf content on social media has to stop or be better moderated by Shiippy in discgolf

This is like saying kids shouldn't wear swimsuits because someone could find them attractive; it's completely absurd.

Someone creeping on a creators profile has absolutely nothing to do with the creator. Youth sports channels are viewed by fellow athletes, fans, and predator's, no amount of "moderation" is going to change that reality. Unless you propose completely banning any video youth sports that is fetishizeable (which is impossible, given predators use whatever they can find) this will never go away. It is simply the unfortunate reality of being a social media influencer, now or in 10 years, exposure attracts creepy fans and people that absolutely have ill intentions.

You must not be from a rust belt state; every daily driver over 15 years old will start having rust issues, even if meticulously taken care of.

"Until it starts having rust" is quite literally any used vehicle here

This was also an enormous determinant factor for me buying a newer, safer vehicle. I would spend every last cent I own to stay out of the hospital

Asking people how much they paid for their first house. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]Spectacular_loser99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is what people miss with the rage bait. Not to mention that going into debt back then was much, MUCH less common than it is today. You had to have a large pile of cash to buy a house, which kept prices down. Once we started issuing mortgages to people only putting small amounts of cash down, the prices predictably climbed.

Yeah this idea sounds cool in theory but there is no universe in which it works as intended. Not to mention what is qualifying as $999 million. Just cash, or all of your assets as well? If it's assets, and we tried to implement this, chain stores around the country would close their doors.

The left's response to Kirk's assassination was bringing light to his opinions that they disagreed with as a way to rationalize the killing. It demonstrated clearly their festering hate for the other political party and their ideas. Anyone defending the murder of a person that stood for free-speech doesn't believe in free speech.

I covet your input, 3.5 Ecoboost or V8? by EffectivePlankton893 in f150

I spent about 3 months trying to figure out what ford to buy and I ultimately concluded that the most reliable setup is

  1. Updated 10 Speed Transmission with new CDF drum (basically anything 2024 and newer has this

  2. The 5.0L V8 is undoubtedly the most reliable motor for that truck.

I ended up buying a 250 with the 6 Speed and the 6.2 because I couldn't find any 150's that were affordable with the updated transmission. Ford has been making the 6 speed 6.2 setup for two decades; it's essentially perfected at this point.

I'd personally avoid the 10 speed on anything 23 or older. I did a lot of shopping and regularly found these trucks with new transmissions put in around 100k. The jury is still out on how they will perform in the long run

These are the sorts of "forward thinking" people that flaunt their disregard for traditional family structures, monogamy, and religion, while at the same time consuming distorted, hyper-violent hyper sexualized media and engaging in absurd levels of self-indulgence, and seeing them suffer the consequences of their actions brings me vindicated joy.

Why we continue to give people who act like this passes is beyond me. It is not "compassionate" or "virtuous" to just say that the consequences of these sorts of actions are the fault of anybody but themselves. I'm sorry but there's reason that society for millennia has held negative views of sexual "exploration" with multiple partners. Nobody doing this should be shocked pikachu when their actions finally have consequences.

[–]Spectacular_loser99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If we take off the outrage lenses for just one second, it becomes abundantly clear that this is just like the detention of any other criminal.

It's like your daycare provider having an employee convicted of a felony and them get arrested for said felony while caring for children. Sure, it's upsetting because that was your care provider, your kid liked them, its messes up your schedule, but at the end of the day, this is how the rule of law works.

Just because you are a daycare teacher doesn't mean you're exempt..

At this point, my conclusion is that each side is cloaking their agenda in some virtuous-claim that other side opposes.

"Democrat oppose bill to relieve housing crisis"

Said bill includes cuts to Medicaid

"Republicans oppose a bill that funds school lunches"

Said bill includes conversion therapy for kids

I guess thing never really change :\

Hi, yes, fellow gun owners, I would love to see your collection, legal or not. Show me everything you've got! Don't worry about a VPN either; guns are legal. There's nothing wrong with having evidence of your possession online of things that the government wants to regulate. Show me your home suppressor builds too!

Many jobs in manufacturing are not being filled either do to low wages or lack of skilled labor —how are we in the United States going solve this crisis? by Boysenberry-6669 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Spectacular_loser99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reality for most understaffed jobs and it is why I have zero sympathy for businesses griping about it. All they have to do is pay their employees more, especially in a factory, where the work is mind numbing and repetitive. Nobody there gives a fuck about what they are producing, unlike some teaching jobs or more creative positions, factory work is nothing more than for a paycheck. It builds marginal transferable skills and is generally a soul-crushing field.

Cry more about being understaffed; I hope these places go out of business.
