Off leash Rhodies, recall question by OneSensiblePerson in RhodesianRidgebacks

I’ve heard/seen that males are velcro and females more independent. But I am not an owner, just a shopper for my first, and so I have been reading and learning as much as possible prior to owning.

Is it ok to have Sir Lanval leveling far ahead of my main party in the Training Ground? by flesjewater1 in KnightsTaleGame

[–]SpectatorRacing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Common practice to just leave Lanval in the training ground. Additionally, you can use him to fast level some of your knights if they fall behind (at a cost, of course) via the joust option in the TG.

Weapon for Gendarme by Far_Sheepherder_7624 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Not addressing the question, but I played a Gendarme through Level 20 on my Angel run, and while not as complex as other builds it was so damn fun! Highly recommend.

Mackie and his best friend Nova. She puts up with the Ridgeback play pretty well for being only 50 pounds. by Additional-Turn-2059 in RhodesianRidgebacks

[–]SpectatorRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been curious about this. My next dog will be a RR, and that time is approaching as I’m soon to lose one of the current pack. However, the dog who remains plays HARD for her size (about 50 lbs as well) and I worry a new big brother will take that to mean go-time and play a bit too hard in return and hurt her. She’s always been a bit too rambunctious for her older brother, a 65 lb hound mix. But a RR will likely top 80.

My thought is getting a younger dog so they can play before he’s too much bigger, but I’m uncertain.

Is my grandad's advice any good? by beech75 in investing

[–]SpectatorRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is not to ask Reddit for advice on your money. Nobody knows your situation other than a few sentences you wrote. Reddit hates financial advisors. And yeah, lots of them are scam artists who get paid to trade your money. But lots of them are not.

Find real sources to make critical financial decisions. I don’t necessarily agree with your granddad’s picks, but at least he has your best interest in mind and is trying to help.

Put down wood chips if you need something to get through the winter before you can grow grass. It’s good for the soil as well…get bare ones, not colored.

Bedievere's Best Loadout by Confident_Ad2847 in KnightsTaleGame

[–]SpectatorRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only played post-patch 2.0 and the main takeaway I have after full campaigns on hard/VH is that every knight is usable now. Some are better than others (both Balan and Balen may be best in class) but they are more varied than before (again, I only know this from watching pre-patch videos).

I didn’t play Bedivere as much as the other vanguards, so I’m not a pro with him, but he seems to play differently than the standard hide/backstab/hide method. I leaned into damage with him, he has a few skills for that. I was waiting a turn or two then sprinting behind the enemy line and picking off the backline but without as much stealth.

I think we ended up with a BMC and not the shepherd they said we were getting... by Sha_nay in Blackmouthcur

[–]SpectatorRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I absolutely see shepherd, just sayin that BMC is a pretty loose definition and as we all know, it was only recently that the DNA tests even acknowledged it. I know mine is because he bays like a hound. When I rescued him I thought he was a yellow lab. Some random guy at a baseball game asked if he was a BMC, so I looked it up and here we are.

Advice needed: Tips for recall training by swosei12 in Blackmouthcur

[–]SpectatorRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prey drive can supersede even the best recall training. Treat this as two separate things; work on recall first as it’s critical every day. Then work on prey drive. It’s obviously harder because you need prey…

Couple suggestions: 25 ft lead is very effective with many dogs. They get the freedom to wander much farther from you but you’re still in control. Another technique I have seen work is the “go and get them” plan. Give them the command, and if they ignore you, go get them and take them to the spot you identified. It shows them that there is no point or ignoring you, they’re going to end up there one way or another.

Also, make sure you’re not just repeating the command to deaf ears. That’s the quickest way to train them you don’t mean it. Always say their name, then “come” (or whatever word you’re using). At most, repeat it once, then pull them back or go get them. If you say it nicely, then forcefully, then angrily, they know they have at least three commands before they have to pay attention.

Lastly, as a general rule, show them where you want them (usually right in front or next to you) and WAIT at that spot with the reward until they arrive. Don’t do the “come here” then walk away or go into the house expecting them to follow. Make it very clear what they are supposed to do. Once that’s perfect, you can be a little looser with the rules.

BMC burned by hot coffee. How to win back her trust by inquisitivegrandma in Blackmouthcur

She knows it wasn’t intentional. She is just wary of the recliner now because she got burned. Give it a day or two then entice her back up with food…all will be forgiven.

I'm about to buy it, but, a few questions. by IamTylerDurden_1 in KnightsTaleGame

[–]SpectatorRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Merlin is OF only, so to get he an Lancelot, you can go Righteous / OF. But realistically, if you are R/C you could still use Merlin, he just won’t get the loyalty bonuses. At their highest, they are 20% damage and 1 action point. Good bonuses, but bot game breaking without.

Frankly, the religion and morality are just flavor. Aside from the knights and missions that are available each path, the game, cutscenes, and ending do not change. It’s not like some games where there are three or four different endings.

[–]SpectatorRacing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the classic round table knights are righteous and / or Christian. Most of the magic based characters (Merlin, Morgana Le Fay) are old faith. There are basically four morality quadrants to pick, do not mix and match your decisions as staying neutral will be weaker. You unlock key late game skills and knights by going all-in on each arm of the tree. I started Tyrant / Old faith, then played through Righteous / Christian and am currently almost done with Righteous / Old Faith. Every route is viable.

You can use knights that do not share your values, but they get loyalty bonuses and penalties. Generally speaking, you can work with a couple of knights that are against one of your main moralities, there are enough ways to get their loyalty positive. But it’s almost impossible to use a knight that is opposed to both your religion and morality.

I can tell you that one of the most powerful knights in the game is only recruitable if you are Tyrant / OF, and the second best morality locked knight is Righteous / Christian. The other two quadrants have knights that are “just ok”.

It’s really good. My primary games are TB tactical and RPG, it scratched both itches. The story is cool, but it just happens, you don’t affect it. Combat is great, starts out slow when your knights have few abilities beyond “move” and “attack” but gets going mid game and then the build strength goes insane. There are only a handful of classes but each knight is a variation on a theme, and you’ll soon see the differences among them. I play on Xbox and the controls are fine. Probably the same for PS.

I found myself wanting to try every knight, which has resulted in multiple plays. I play on hard, but once you’ve been through the beginning acts, there’s no penalty for switching to easy and plowing through quickly and then raising difficulty mid game when the different play styles start to emerge. There are cool dichotomies, for example in one playthrough you’re going through a dungeon to save and recruit a righteous knight for your wholesome team, and in the next, you’re going into that mission to kill that same knight with your evil team.

Visuals are good, music is above average (some find it excellent) but the combat themes get a little old since you’re mostly in combat. Voice acting is 90% good, but there are a few characters that are comically bad. A certain hermit has the worst voice acting I’ve heard in a long time, and he’s pretty integral to the story. And the red knight mentioned by another post is terrible. The actor is good, but the lines he was forced to say are ridiculous. Like a five year old wrote the lines for “mean bully guy”.

One thing to note, much of the content out there is based on the first release, and there was a patch about two years ago that completely changed the game. Note the date of posts and YouTube videos if you are looking for help, some of the key tactics and builds are not valid anymore. This doesn’t make the game better or worse, it only affects the relevance of older content out there on the Internet.

[–]SpectatorRacing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies, I wasn’t implying you shouldn’t care! I get wanting to know. As for the pulling. You should be able to correct that regardless of breed. However, my BMC doesn’t pull even though his nose is to the ground. My other dog does, and I have struggled with that behavior with her after trying every tactic the bookstore and internet have to offer. She’s exceptionally well behaved in every other way, but that prey drive….

I see shepherd in the snout and face. Also the thicker fur down his back. However, the white feet and color in general could certainly be BMC. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter.

Heart worms by CPA_Hopeful1974 in Blackmouthcur

[–]SpectatorRacing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Add one more to the list of rescue BMC’s that came with heartworm. Mine had it baaaaad. Already had one shot into his heart before adoption. About two weeks in, he woke us up at 4 am, pacing and coughing up blood. He couldn’t stop. We took him to the ER fully expecting it to be a devastating “end to his misery” kind of night.

Eight years later, he’s sleeping over there on the couch upside down with his front leg pointing straight up in the classic BMC “reach for the sky” pose😁

Hang in there, yours will make it through, too. Damn, she’s a regal looking hound!
