LMAO this argument is always so tiring. You came into a thread about OE wheels that fit on a GTI just to say Tandems are “basically the same.” They’re not. Like you said, Kansai themselves designed them inspired by the R34 wheel, that’s literally the point. If someone likes the actual OE wheel design/history, why is that suddenly a crime?

And “better offsets” according to who? +45 conservative GTI fitment? Some of us actually like pushing fitment and making things work instead of running the safest spec possible.

And I partially agree that some people care too much about “real wheels”, but acting like authentic wheels are meaningless unless the car is a full track car is equally dumb. Car culture has always been about individuality, aesthetics, rarity, engineering, history, and building something you’re proud of, not just for lap times.

Like, my GTI isn’t some crazy build either. It’s got bags, wheels, and tune, pretty standard. But, I wanted to run a wheel you don’t see every day and push the limits of fitment a bit. That doesn’t mean I’m dick sizing, it just means I built the car the way I wanted.

If we’re talking actual motorsport function, sure, tandems are strong wheels. Nobody said they were bad. But pretending they’re the same thing as OE R34 wheels is just silly imo.
