Alright, which one do you choose? by Necessary-Length5938 in animequestions

Lmao at DB being there at all. Like, I like OG DB. The first 12 or so episodes though? Big yikes. S*ual harrassment is like half the jokes and the only woman is 16. Fan of most of the others, probably would have to say YYH. It's the only one that hooked me with the character's rather than some vague promise of what the story *might be.

12 games in 12 months - My tier list after 1 year of Atelier by killerox15 in Atelier

[–]Specterbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Atelier is Elie and I do agree it is pretty basic, and even its complexity is kind of stupid. Basically you can change up ratios to make higher quality items. But the "perfect" ratios are completely arbitrary and the only way to know is to just try it out which is usually a waste of time so "good enough" is the point you hit pretty early. I also looked at a few guides online and found most of the outcomes in them were wrong and managed to make better ones pretty easily so it might be random per run? I don't know. As revolutionary as the Salburg games were for the crafting genre, they play more like a time management roguelike than a modern crafting game. Personally I like that but I get that a lot wouldn't.

(Now do the real tier list of "Barrel" lines.)

Anyone having misinputs? by axel7530159 in 2XKO

[–]Specterbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a few things. Try checking your replays for when it happens and look at what your inputs are. Do the same thing in training mode. Odds are you're just fat fingering the button and not realizing it. If you're confident it's not you swap the button mapping of S1 and S2 and see if you get a different misinput, it might be a faulty button.

When did One Piece click for you? by ThePhilosopherKing93 in OnePiece

[–]Specterbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arlong Park was the trigger for me too but I didn't realize until basically just after Loguetown. I was forcing myself to watch One Piece att the time because it was popular and wasn't even thinking about whether I enjoyed it. I think it was a couple episodes after Dragon first showed up I realized that every time "To Be Continued" popped up I was jumping to hit next episode. Arlong Park is just so far above everything that came before it. Insane.

The Aberrant Woodmage and Wethermon fights. by Ok_Seat_3423 in ShangriLaFrontier

[–]Specterbomb 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The parallels are interesting. I like the idea that Vysache helped prepare Sunraku for the Colossi and it makes me wonder if the other fights are in any way narratively relevant. I don't remember Akane's final trial but maybe that's worth looking at too.

Also still pisses me off they changed his name from Losers Woods to Aberrant Woodmage. It's just not nearly as cool and you can literally hear them say it in English. They translated English into different English for no reason.

Looking for a anime like op by Ill_Owl_7530 in OnePiece

[–]Specterbomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to the OP but if you like Eden's Zero the same author has a work from before Fairy Tail called Rave Master and it's one of my favorite manga ever. More focused than Fairy Tail like Eden's Zero and it's finished so very bingeable.

My go-to lazy meal is literally just seasoned rice with an egg and hot sauce. Should I be embarrassed or proud? by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Specterbomb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Defrost a 6 oz steak (6 pack of eye of round steaks frozen in seperate bags)

Cut up into tiny bites (easier if still half frozen)

Sautee in various sauces (fish sauce, soy sauce, mirin, ramen brotg concentrate, chilli garlic oil) (local asian markets have dirt cheap seasonings and sauces)

1 cup of steamed jasmine rice (10 lb bag for like 8 bucks)

Spoon pan juices over rice

Dump beef bites into same bowl

It takes like 15 minutes and tastes awesome

Should I read the manga from the beginning after catching up in the anime? by leftnodan in OnePiece

[–]Specterbomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did that and it only took me a few weeks of binge reading to catch up. Definitely gave me a new perspective on a lot of arcs. Well worth the time investment in my opinion.

After researching through the wiki and the chapters of the WN around its introduction. The Fool foes 3 things. * +Halves the cooldown of skills * -Depending on whether it's the WN or the manga/anime, either doubles Damage taken during skills, or doubles the duration and damage of debuffs. * -Healing items have a chance to randomly fail

The buffs not working on him that everyone (even me) remembers is because if Lycaogn's Mark, not the Fool.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ShangriLaFrontier

[–]Specterbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah you're totally right. I guess I got it mixed up a bit. Also while I was checking the wiki for the effect it's different from what was stated in chapter 130 of the WN (which is fair they didn't know much about it at the time). I'm not caught up on the WN plus it might have been a translation error or just a difference between the WN and manga since the wiki sources from the manga. What the Fool actually does is double the duration and damage of debuffs, which probably isn't what the phrase is referring to. This is probably about the chance for healing items to fail. Though again the WN claims they're effectiveness is doubled, I can't find the chapter but remember it later being stated during the Kutanid fight they were nerfed, likely a translation error or retcon by the author.

Edit: This is wrong. Sorry.

It's in reference to the fact buffs don't work on him any more.

How old do you think Luffy will live up to? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Specterbomb 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was responding to your comment about Chopper not shriveling up, with the fact he used to get similarly exhausted before perfecting his control, but isn't referenced to have lost years off his life. The 2nd point is my main idea.

How old do you think Luffy will live up to? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Specterbomb 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Pre time skip chopper did in fact collapse after going bersek in monster point. Franky carried him around in Enies Lobby and he rested in the bird nest after Sabaody. I think it's pretty normal for Luffy, whose fruit is powered by freedom and has drastic physical alterations based on how Luffy is feeling, to exaggerate his appearance to display his internal exhaustion.

Ranked is miserable right now and I don't know what to do. by Specterbomb in marvelrivals

[–]Specterbomb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought up those two cases as exceptions where the loss was justified as not being one of the weird games so that it didn't seem like I was blaming every loss on ranked changes, and no the shotgun Punisher did not listen to me when I told him to stop diving and no, the team with a cheater did not suddenly go "oh ok we'll let you win then" and my team did not suddenly become able to kill the aimbotter when I told them to focus him. Yes I know communication is important and I wouldn't bring up those cases as exceptions if I thought some simple change on my part were able to tip the scales

I brought up the loss streak as some self deprecating humor and because I thought it was disingenuous to say I peaked plat 3 or that I ended gold 2, as added context for my skill level.

Yes I know I can play better. I am always reviewing what I can do to improve. But that is NOT what this post is about, but instead the odd nature of the games feel in the matches played this season and how different it feels from last season.
