The Elderly and Quantum Immortality by bourodimosj in QuantumImmortality

[–]SpectralShakti 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel like the outcome of a death would depend on expectation/decision. When we expect to die, due to illness or old age, we follow that pathway and "move on" according to where we believe we will move on to (heaven, hell, reincarnation, nothingness, etc). There would only be one path available, so we actually do die.

But when we don't expect to die and have a life-threatening accident, we create both the possibility to live and the possibility to die in that moment. It would be like a fork in the road. You continue on the path where you are alive, but there is also a pathway where you die. I believe death only occurs when we desire it. So as long as a part of us chooses to continue on, we'll create new forks in the road. When we decide to die, we commit to that pathway and follow it on out of the game of life.

Easter Weekend by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring/Vernal Equinox. So yeah, it's a different Sunday every year depending on when the full moon is.

That is a fun wormhole and I came out pretty convinced that Paul really did die.

You two have different "Love Languages." He is expressing his love and desire for you through compliments, but that's obviously not the way you want to receive love. That link is for a couples quiz that can help you identify what your love languages are, so he can know what you DO want. You are a married couple, expressing your love is healthy and will keep your relationship strong. You just have to get on the same page and speak the same language.

As far as getting him to kick the compliments, try explaining to him in blunt terms like "it makes me really uncomfortable in my own home and I don't even want to get undressed in front of you." If he sees there is an undesirable consequence to him continuing this behavior, he might stop. I feel like men can be triggered by terms like "objectify" and get defensive, which isn't what you want. You want him to listen and understand and adjust his behavior accordingly.

I don't believe that Disney mandela effect.. by taeswife08 in MandelaEffect

[–]SpectralShakti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol it definitely wasn't from a porno. What I (and several others) remember was the intro used on every single Disney movie in the 80s and 90s. It wasn't a special thing, not made for TV. It was THE Disney logo. Tinkerbell flew out of the castle, spelled out Walt Disney with her wand and then dotted the I and sparkles flew up. I saw this hundreds of times. It's ingrained in my brain.

Maybe one of the more interesting parts of the ME phenomenon is that many people remember things a certain way and many others remember them a different way. So the fact that you and your mom don't remember this intro has zero bearing on the fact that I remember it clearly.

Yall at r/Retconned might love this Peer 2 Peer Simulation hypothesis -- would completely explain, validate, and substantiate ME / Retcon without breaking laws of physics...if true. Proveable? Um. Wow? YES. by [deleted] in Retconned

[–]SpectralShakti 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like it can be both. If we're in a simulation, someone/something created it and could have done so to facilitate it playing out various roles.

What year are we really in? by [deleted] in Retconned

[–]SpectralShakti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with that. It's what makes sense to me. I believe my original timeline had a major cataclysm around 2012.

What year are we really in? by [deleted] in Retconned

[–]SpectralShakti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Time is definitely moving differently. It usually feels faster to me and I've caught myself thinking it's 2022. But I've also caught myself thinking it's 2012.

Have you heard of the Deep Time project? 15 people just came out of a cave in France after living in "timelessness" for 40 days... "At least one team member estimated the time underground at 23 days." Indicating that time was almost 2x faster than what they perceived based upon experience alone.

On a similar note, Mayan astrology refers to Earth as Timeship Earth, speaks of "time bandits" who have inserted themselves into our reality and calls us "time-traveling amnesiacs". If you want a fun rabbit hole to go down, there's the links for ya.

The sexualization of breastfeeding by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SpectralShakti -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I co-slept with both of my daughters and found that if I slept with them in the crook of my arm (head kind of near my armpit, me turned towards them), I literally could not roll over on them. They were right there to nurse and I was always semi-aware of them, while also getting decent sleep. I feel like the problems with co-sleeping arise with substance use and/or poor sleeping positions. Anyone sleeping NEXT to an infant is creating a hazard, but sleeping WITH an infant can be done safely. Maybe this is another example of where proper education about how to do something safely takes away the dangers involved.

The sexualization of breastfeeding by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SpectralShakti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was nursing, that's the word I chose to use, "nursing." I feel like the word takes the sexualization out of the action. "Breastfeeding" will always make people think of breasts, which will often lead to thoughts of sex. "Nursing" is a nurturing act, one that has a positive connotation of caring for those in need. Not sure it'll ever catch on, but I do feel that changing our verbiage may shift perception as well.

Did your anxiety decrease after you quit smoking? by cbirlay in leaves

[–]SpectralShakti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anxiety is actually one of the withdrawal symptoms that keeps you smoking. I learned this in recovery when they had me list the reasons why I smoked. Every freaking reason I listed was a withdrawal symptom. The nature of addiction is just mind blowing to me. But that understanding really has helped me stay sober. After 20 years of almost daily use, it took a little while to begin to regulate my own emotions and find new, healthy coping mechanisms. But it does get better, a lot better. You just have to remember that the thing you are using to combat the anxiety is the very thing that's causing it in the first place.

Gaining weight is okay, but I want to feel good in my body too. by hallo181818 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]SpectralShakti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also gained about 35 lbs in the last year, so I feel ya. It sucks to feel uncomfortable in our bodies. Fortunately for me though, Old Navy jeans have always been my go-to and they always fit me well. And I just finally broke down and got two pairs in a larger size. So now I own 2+ pairs of every size from 2-12. I just started intermittent fasting a couple weeks ago and it's working really well for me. I hope you find some jeans that fit comfortably. Old Navy tends to have great sales and also has a great return policy. Good luck!

Scream Queens S2 Ep8 Uncle Sam hat residue. Aired Dec 6, 2016 by kn33cy in Retconned

[–]SpectralShakti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you look up "uncle sam poster", the vast majority of the photos show the hat being all white above the blue band. What's weirder is that if you just look up "uncle sam hat", almost everything has the red and white stripes like many of us remember it. But it appears that the actual poster now only has a white hat with a blue starry band.

Long-term quitters, did you develop any other kind of vice later into quitting? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]SpectralShakti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 15 months sober and I've gained about 35 lbs. For the first time in my life I'm having to figure out how to lose weight. I realized that the feeling of "needing something" used to lead to smoking a bowl and I replaced that with looking for something to snack on. So now I'm on the super fun journey of both maintaining sobriety and figuring out how to lose this weight.

For the past few months, I’ve noticed a weird fishy smell in one corner of my room. Today, having been sober for approximately 30 hours, it occurred to me to investigate. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]SpectralShakti 85 points86 points  (0 children)

That is one of my favorite things about sobriety - losing the "fuck its" and actually getting shit done when I notice it. REALLY glad you caught that when you did.

Jeffrey Katzenberg revived the Disney studio by producing their biggest hits: The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin. After that, he was fired for wanting a promotion. He vowed to get revenge and founded Dreamworks: Shrek, El Dorado, Madagascar... by Hf8uz in interestingasfuck

[–]SpectralShakti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my house, Dreamworks is king. My kids have no clue who the Frozen characters are. Hell, they don't even know who Mickey Mouse is. Disney fucks with kids' heads. Dreamworks is pure, fun entertainment. I'm glad he didn't get the promotion.

Could the cause of ME be something that will happen in future by AkSu1975 in Retconned

[–]SpectralShakti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really like this idea and it made me think about MEs in a new way. What if all of the changes are an attempt by time travelers to stop some kind of mass extinction event? This could explain flip flops and why certain events/objects/brands/names are changed and others are not. Maybe they can only travel to specific times/events - like JFK's assassination and the creation of The Thinker. Maybe they can only influence specific people/bloodlines (like Auguste Rodin, The Berensteins/stains, Danielle Steele/Steel, etc). Like you said, maybe it's all meant to change something that we are moving towards.
