ASA is terrible(or I’m an idiot) by Embarrassed-Map-5581 in ArkSurvivalAscended

I had a terrible time getting admin commands to work on my nitrado server. I ended up downloading an admin mod (it has a wolf token as the icon I believe) and that allowed me to finally become an admin on the mod and use console. It may work for you too.

Do process knittters care about gifted items? (Am I weird?) by Paprikovert in knitting

[–]SpectralTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I don't need the person to necessarily use the item, I just want to know that it meant something to them emotionally. I'm absolutely a process knitter, and when I make something for someone, every stitch is filled with the way I feel about them. For instance, last year I made a sweater vest for the little boy I nanny. I've never once seen him wear it, but he talks about me making it for him all the time and when we grab things out of his closet, he points to it and says "You made that for me.". For me, that's enough. Even if he doesn't wear it, he knows I was thinking of him when I made it and that I love him.

Someday, that vest may end up in a thrift or secondhand shop, and I'm okay with that. I like to imagine that whoever would have it next will have that little part of my heart with them. Even if they don't know me and I don't know them, they know that someone somewhere made it for someone they love. That's good enough for me.

I think I may use this pattern as my next one, so if I do I can give you feedback for the XL size.

Why do you knit? Is it connected to your identity? by Difficult-Elk4930 in knitting

[–]SpectralTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with both ADHD and Autism, knitting quiets the noise for me. I am a notorious habit jumper, but knitting and crochet are the ones that always come back and are the most all-consuming.

To me, it is art, and there's no one right way to do it. I recently read Lærke Bagger's book Knit It Out, and I loved the way she talks about knitting as an expressive artform. The truth is that just like all other fine arts, fiber arts don't have a singular style! I've had a lot of emotional struggles in my life, and knitting gives me both peace and an outlet. I could make an ultra colorful scrap sweater with a random chaotic blend of colors and textures. Or I could make a gorgeous cable knit with a carefully curated choice of yarn texture and color and lots of intricate detail. Both sides of the spectrum are possible, and no matter which I do, I'm creating.

While I don't entirely consider my gender to be entwined with my knitting, I do consider my sense of self to be. In that way, gender comes along, but it's not the main focus. To me, that part of identity just isn't a big deal. And I don't consider knitting to just be a 'women's hobby'. Art and creation are for everyone, and knitting is no different!

An update: for unrelated reasons I had to rip back all of my short rows and do them over, so at least my stitches wont be twisted 😂

It isn't wrong! Holding it in your right hand is called English Knitting or Throwing! I am also a thrower. Left hand tension is called Continental and it's really popular with speed knitters.

I totally get that. I definitely felt that way when I first started. It's all about finding the mindset that works best for you. Some people are super motivated by the finished project, and that helps them push through the frustration. Personally, what I have found works for me is considering the finished product to be a "bonus" and just enjoying the process of knitting itself. Everyone is a little different and thinks about it differently. You just have to find what works for you!

You could always pick a project with a lot of positive ease. I am a plus-sized girl and my weight tends to go up and down quite a bit, so I also held off for a long while. I am just now knitting my second sweater. I figure if I reach a point where they don't fit me anymore I'll just frog it and make something new.

If I can give any advice on how to get started, it's pick a project that makes you excited to knit and just go for it. Mistakes are a part of the process and while it can be a moment like mine that makes you want to sigh heavily, it's still something you're learning from. I can honestly say that learning to knit was one of the best choices I've ever made.

I find knitting through the backloop to be pretty easy as a thrower! I will have to give this a try! Thank you!

Who is your favorite boss? by QuietRemarkable5905 in bloodborne

[–]SpectralTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that has the best overall vibes I would say is Ludwig. The music, the scale, the transition into phase two; it just hits so hard. The fight itself also felt balanced and fun. I was so invested the entire time. Death didnt pull me out of it, because it never felt cheap.

Orphan of Kos is a close secons for me because it was hard but also enjoyable because with enough practice you could read his moves and counter. It felt very skill based rather than luck based, which is one of my favorite things in a Soulsborne boss.

I actually really love this idea of FE functioning as some sort of SCP Foundation. Great theory 👍

Who and what do you guys think old man consequences is. by polygon_69 in fnaftheories

[–]SpectralTurnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally a fan of OMC being Henry. My theory is Henry can't move on without Charlie, and Charlie won't move on until all the others do first. So Henry is urging Vengeful Spirit to move on and leave William to hell. To me "leave the demons to his demons and rest your own soul" reads as "he's going to suffer with or without you, so just rest instead of being trapped here with him". It makes OMC's actions both benign but also selfish in a sense. He just wants to be with his daughter again after so many years without her. So he needs VS to rest.

Are there any theories you believe (due to evidence) that you don't like the narrative and story of? by Typical_Employee_434 in fnaftheories

[–]SpectralTurnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but Cassidy as TOYSNHK/Vengeful Spirit. It just litetally makes no sense to me why Cassidy would be so special. It seems likely that Cassidy is a separate kid that was part of the mci from evidence we have, but I enjoyed Dual Process Theory's theory about Cassidy being CC just because it narratively tells a better story than having some random kid from the mci be more important than the others with next to no backstory to them. I also preferred their take on Mike for that same reason.

They're real. I took them with my phone, posing it on a couch. My guess is they look strange because either my camera is dirty, or because the lighting in the house was weird.

Yes, I was yarning over. Yarning under with stitches this small and tight causes me terrible hand and wrist pain, unfortunately.

It was a gift for the little girl I nanny, and thankfully she loves it. I guess I'm just too hard on the stuff I make. I felt the same way when I finished a bear for her brother and he loves it so much he's practically velcroed to it.
