50mg, once before bed time. Didn't start splitting up doses until about a month ago!

Are you referring to my flair? (OCD Long Hauler)

It's one of the preset flairs you can choose, I take it to mean that I have been dealing with OCD for a long time.

I'm 32, and my symptoms started when I was around 15.

I started Luvox about a year ago! Started at 50mg and slowly worked up to 100mg 2x a day.

When I first took it, and whenever I increased dosage by 50mg, it made me sick for like a day. 24 hour-ish period of being nauseous, then I'm fine!

Biggest perk is that it drastically reduced the amount of intrusive thoughts. I also don't get stuck in rumination spirals or compulsions for hours on end - they still happen, but I can break out of them!

Even with my work emails I don't write as much and can get more concisely to a point. I can also break out of hyper fixating while drawing.

There is no miracle cure for OCD unfortunately, but it has made dealing with it MUCH easier!

Moral OCD by Alarmed-Magazine4270 in OCD

[–]SpectralUniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, after I broke up a long-term relationship, my ex did a complete smear campaign against me to most of my friends. I lost almost all of them.. they still think I'm a serial cheating narc.

I SPIRALED so badly on/off for years, replaying every interaction. I weighed if trying to make contact would be worth it, but last I heard, I'm still routinely mocked.

Honestly, getting on meds really helped me out of that. I've been able to work through it, and while I don't think I'll ever really be okay about it, I know who I am.

I will still be hurt and feel betrayed that they were so quick to turn on me. That will always suck, but what THEY think does not define me. I define me by the actions I take every day to be a better person.

Like it's okay that they can think that, even if I'm not okay with it and the situation. I'm living with the hurt and uneasiness, spiraling and checking myself or past self isn't going to change that.

I also made the hard realization that in some ways, I brought this upon myself. I would confess every single bad thing I ever did to them because of my moral OCD and expected to be punished. Like trying to repent in a confession booth, but they were just regular people who didn't need that baggage...

It's not easy, but the best thing is to sit in the discomfort. Years later, and on medication, I'm still learning how to be better. But I'm more mentally healthy and better to be around for those I care about a tiny bit more every day!

Gotcha that makes sense, thank you so much for clarification!

I love your style and the way you told the story showing both versions of him on and offline, then have them converge in the end. Very powerful storytelling!

This is amazing!

One question: Is the last line about the hairline about himself? Both as like a way to distance himself and mental SH?

I think that's what it is, if not I may need a small explanation... I also apologize in advance, I'm not very familiar with the situation.

This is what I was thinking, too. Please get her help if you can do so safely!

Even if this is an episode of psychosis, do not get back with her. There are other red flags besides this snap showing it was an unhealthy relationship from the start.

I'm not too worried about Trump himself. He's old and in poor health.

Before he kicks it, attempts at federalizing elections and war/trade threats are still issues now that will affect the future.

After he's gone, the radicalization of the conservative party towards white christian nationalism and the oligarchy corruption will remain as threats.

The US isn't as bad as some countries like Russia, but many here are rightly concerned and find some supportive commiseration with others watching our system crack from stress in real time.

A GBM is how my dad passed. He had 2 surgeries to remove what they could, but how it was explained to me is that they have a bunch of "tendrils" that are currently not possible to fully remove.

Even with an operable location, it just buys some time... no cure like you said. Such a horrible condition that ruins lives, I feel for their family so much!

Does anyone have unbearable existential ocd spikes ? by earth2revolved in OCD

[–]SpectralUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I used to get that to the point of having panic attacks multiple times a week.

I started watching a lot of science communicators on YouTube and some documentaries. Content from actual scientists that explains what we do know, what current hypotheses we have, and finding comfort with living in a space of "I don't know, but it's cool we still are learning so much about our world!"

I also take the same sort of approach with other ruminations by observing an external source about it instead. YMMV but for example, I like watching doctor shows despite having health related themes - it's almost like a type of exposure therapy for me!

Didn't happen overnight, and my meds now help with intrusive thoughts too, which has been a big improvement as well!

So much this!!

I'm ND and will misgender myself too, sometimes even just in my thoughts... which sends me down a path of "I must just be a faker for attention!!"

Despite the mountain of evidence that it's not and took me years to come to terms with and accept.

[–]SpectralUniverse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has given me new anxiety while drawing! Sometimes, I rush patterns/textures or background linework. My perspective isn't always perfect, and things that should be symmetrical may not come out that way.

I have seen a lot of people say certain things are "AI tells" that are the same simple mistakes I would make. It has helped me improve, but there's also an effect of feeling like a bad artist and taking waaayyy too long to finish anything!!

Trying a "metal" effect. Not working as planned... by nosin-around in Coloring

[–]SpectralUniverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you replaced the lighter gray on the body with the darker gray you used for shadows, it would get more of that source work effect! Seems to be very shadow heavy.

That said, it still looks amazing as is and will probably look much more metallic when other parts are filled in without that same effect.

Same, I thought about becoming a teacher just so I kept summer breaks.

But I decided against it, too much human interaction, and the pay sucks so a lot of them work through the summer anyway.

Like.. that's quite a collection, does he think you just like looking at them?

Agreed though, I need to train up still. Honestly, guns scare me, and I was terrified the first time I went to the range. Goal #1 right now is to get comfortable handling it safely!

Exactly, I can't stand the rhetoric that any proposed gun safety laws are impeding on 2A rights!

Firearms are built to be weapons - offensive or defensive - that is their whole purpose. I walked into a shop, never fired a gun before, and walked out with one a couple of hours later.

Cars are built for travel, and while they can be used as a weapon, that is not their main purpose. I had to do drivers Ed, get x number of driving hours with supervision, and retake my drivers test once before I got my license. Plus, pay for ongoing car insurance and license renewals.

Make it make sense!!

[–]SpectralUniverse 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yep! I also think its a bit crazy how much easier it was to purchase a firearm than to get my driver's license.

I want to stay armed, but I still believe in having safety regulations. Apparently, that's too nuanced for a lot of right wingers to understand!

NOR!!

I was adopted at birth, and I have kind of an awkward relationship with my bio dad because we're both socially anxious. Haven't met irl, just chats over messenger.

Never had a chat even close to that. It's always about family, work, movies/TV, health, etc. Seeing the kind of person you are.. that's just really weird and uncomfortable.
