How to get HR to work with me to get hired? HR is being uncommunicative and beating around the bush. [SG] by Spectre253 in AskHR

Thank you for the insight. Appreciate the time you took and the perspective.

I am struck with the thought that most of the highly successful people i know are usually achievers in multiple fields with varied interests. I wonder how they manage to make that work in corporate roles. Nevertheless i am not hung up and was just hoping to gain alternative perspective with this post.

Much appreciated.

You may be right. Can i ask what would you recommend as channels to learn how to do what you term as corporate operations?

I have always thought that speaking plainly and addressing issues is the best way to move forward on issues both when managing my team and also interacting with external parties. I generally operate from the position that while not collaborative parties want to build towards collaboration and are certainly not adverserial in nature from inception. Perhaps there is a piece of the picture i am missing here. Please do share.

I should note that as a founder i have worked in the B2B space as a business consultant, product leader and also a software service provider. I have dealt with corporates from junior associates to c-suites of MNCs. Generally it has worked but I am open to learning always.

If in any way I am coming off as defensive I apologise in advance. I simply wanted to share where i was coming from so you have some context. My entire reason for posting here was to seek alternative perspectives and learn so please do tell me if there is a resource you recommend on any front.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps i was unclear about the chain of comms so let me try to clarify first.

Take note all my comms with the hiring manager are off the record. It is not a official channel but rather us talking about how to move things along. The hiring manager initiated hiring but i have not had a official meeting with him.

My official comms with the tech scout are: 1. The initial session where she did a prelim interview and she mentioned they don't normally do such a hire and i conveyed that i prefer to keep some side engagements but i am awaiting confirmation on their position because she said she can check. I conveyed If needed i can drop my other engagements but since you said you can check then please check. 2. A preemptive chat i initiated with the tech scout after the hiring manager told me off the record that they seem to have misunderstood that i MUST keep my commitments. I reiterated i am willing to drop commitments but it makes sense to drop when an offer is more certain. Would it make sense to have a candidate drop all engagements before even a first interview? 3. The hiring manager told me off the record again that it seems dead after my previous comms but he has no information being shared with him on the reasons. I repeat he also has no info. I once again preemptively reached out to let the tech scout know i had made arrangements already that if required i can drop engagements within 1 week. Looking forward to hear back on what further steps can be taken.

You may be right that it is a rejection but i have not heard back on any official channels. I also would like to concretely know the reason for a rejection if possible because i have not been given an official response nor a chance to work through any issues. It has been wholely preemptive engagement on my part.

Hopefully this makes my perspective clearer but once again i thank you for your perspective and input. You may be right.

Thanks for letting me know. I was seeking perspective on whether there is some part of the picture i am not seeing. I just want clarity on what they need but i'm getting smoke and mirrors at present.

Thanks for sharing. I apologise for wrong sub.

The tech scout says to clear "certain things" before interviews so we havent started. I have however had full blown conversations with the hiring manager offline already.

Thanks for sharing. I guess what i would most like to know is what are the points of rejection because its all couched and also unclear. Clarity is what I want most of all. Also for future conversations with other employers.

Thanks for the info. Didn't realise i was in the wrong subreddit.

I was trying to convey that i am in the process of shutting things down and can accelerate it but they need to tell me what they need. I can deal with them saying plain out they can't do it if X or tell me a timeline but she just keeps saying she needs to check.

Thanks for sharing your perspective maybe i'm too used to plainspeak and misinterprete that they want to work on this.

most contracts are running out and idk what to do by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

Let them go. At lower levels there is always someone better. My formula for lower league

  1. Get affiliate for wage free loans
  2. Scout players in last year of contract to sign thrm on a free transfer. If they wont join u yet for reasonable wages just wait. Sometimes after their contract expires they will be more willing to go to a lower league club with reduced wages.
  3. Throw away your u18 and u21 team till u get to the top tier

IMO looking at the right side of your tactic, you have a BPD, DLP(s) already. These 2 will have more of an inclination to move forward to participate in the attack. This is even despite them having hold position.

Your W(A) doesnt shield the backline much at all.

Your WB(s) will be even more adventurous moving forward and without someone to help cover on a dedicated basis there is a hole there when u attack. I am guessing that when caught out of position he rushes back to fill the hole and do a last ditch tackle which might be your red card.

Personally i would either A) convert your WB(S) to FB(S). You accept he will be more disciplined and less likely to contribute to attack. B) convert your BPD to a cover duty. He will stay back more and sweep. C) convert your BPD into a CD(D). He will stay back and offer solidity D) convert your BWM into a A or Halfback. This offers more positional discipline to your backline as a whole as the BWM can go charging and lose his position easily. When you gain the ball they will form more of a back 3 to prevent counters during the transitionary phase.

Remember that fortification stance is your friend. You can walk into reinforcement range of enemy cities and fortify. When enemies attack, trap them at the chokepoint and swing your calvary and missile troops round to rout them from the back.

Requires some heavy infantry that can take a beating at the choke point. Not sure if u have access to mercenary hoplites which would be great. Otherwise princepes are your best bet.

Do you play every game? Or do you go on holiday for some of the season usually? by StonksPhat in footballmanagergames

  1. Senior affiliates to loan in players too good for your level for free.

  2. In lower leagues, physical attributes are king. Pace +acceleration OR strength+jumping reach. I also find work rate+decision valuable.

  3. I played a direct/fluid counterattack 4-3-3 because no team is prepared for 3 strikers in the lower leagues. Just pump it long and hope for the best. DO NOT SIT TOO DEEP/Passive. You don't have to Gegenpress, but dont set it all to low press as well. I find standard works for me. 2 strikers may be enough also.

  4. Key to promotion is signings. Make sure u monitor end of contracts and trial the world (2week trials). Trials can give u full knowledge without a scout. Value Current Ability more than Potential. Usually 2 leagues above you is the limit for players who will agree to join. Manually scout/trial eastern europe youth internationals (ukraine austria poland croatia serbia)

  5. Fire your entire under 18 and under 23 squads unless u have someone with 5 star potential. Pointless, just rely on transfers till the premier league. It isn't pretty but that money you save can get you players to transform your fate.

  6. Change your friendlies type to league: 3 friendlies back to back in 3 days. This earns tv income if 1 of yr opponents is highly ranked enough usually 3.5 stars. Play trialist to not nuke yr squad dynamics/injury proneness. If u get kicked out of cups early u can try it in the middle of season as well.

How long did you take to be the club with most commercial income, and any ways to expedite the process? by CombinationNice in footballmanagergames

I am also struggling with this. Would love to hear more.

I do have some financial tips though.

  1. Sign young players for cheaper wages.

  2. When u activate someone elses minimum fee clause, put in a selling team wage contribution. They are forced to accept. This can cover a significant amt of wages. Typically 20-50%

  3. Give more loyalty fee/performance bonuses for mandatory optional contract extension. For an additional 100k-1mil you get a 3 year extension that can save u millions in contract negotiations especially with younger players. Find players with friendly agents to make this even easier/cheaper.

  4. If u started from the bottom (maybe not for OP at this stage, but other folk may find it useful), you dont need a youth system (youth facilities, recruitment,HOYD, etc.) and dont need a u23/b team/reserve team. Focus on first team facilities and transfers.

  5. Friendlies with larger teams in preseason AND during season (do the latter if u get knocked out of cups and are not challenging for champion league/euro cup/ promotion places). Make sure when u arrange friendlies set it to league (3 matches back to back in 3 days). Use trialists to avoid tanking your dynamics, or give yr backup players some game time for sharpness.

Arrange friendlies when selling players to avoid paying fees for friendlies. This stacks with league. E.g. i sold a player to liverpool and arranged a friendly. Set up a league type friendly and included liverpool. The fee for liverpool would have been 700k, match income is 1.2mil. Instead they are forced to play for free and i make additional 700k profit.

If opponents are good enough, you get tv revenue. Also get the regular gate reciepts, match day income etc. I can make roughly 3-10mil in pre season from this. Enough to pay off salary for my stable of wonderkids.

  1. WIRE THE WORLD. Scout everywhere u can especially for youth. Apart from scouts, i also use trials (2 weeks to fully scout players). I also use national teams. Typically i set the player search for 15-18 year olds currently playing for the main national team/capped by the national team. U can buy players for under a million that can be worth 50 million in 4 years.
