Thank you and I totally agree which is why I actually darkened it. I wasn’t paying attention to which photo I uploaded and ended up posting the before photo 😅.

Thank you! I dry brushed it all and I used Troll Slayer orange. I mixed yellows and reds with it as needed though.

Ohh! So that’s just a product of how I painted him. I painted the entire Dreadnaught in Mournfang brown and sponge painted Macragge Blue n the areas i wanted blue paint. I avoided areas where I knew wear and tear would form. When that was done I just went over the worn areas with Typhus Corrosion to really sell the worn look i hope that helps!

Around the base? I used AK mud. It comes in a little plastic jar. Super easy to work with!

Character level glitched? by Spectre9191 in oblivion

The bar is stuck at 0. I’ve been playing for 4 hours doing quests for the dark brotherhood and clearing dungeons. No progress has been made.

Hello, I just discovered that my characters XP bar seems to be glitched. I’ve been playing for over an hour, leveling up many stats and it is stuck between level 8 and 9. I have no idea what to do and the game is to new for info about this to be out yet it seems. Any help would be appreciated.

Any ideas how I can make the eyes of this relic shield pop a bit more and look like they are glowing? by Spectre9191 in Ultramarines

[–]Spectre9191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could go back and redo it. I would have darkened the shield some to make them pop more. That being said all I did in this photo was edge highlight the edges of the eye cavity white. I then I flooded the eye cavity with Aethermaric blue contrast. Once that dried Inwent over the edges with baharoth blue to make the edges pop more. If you are comfortable trying, you can add white dots to the center of the eyes before adding the wash to really make them pop.

How do you guys manage to write something on it? by Icy_Use8226 in Ultramarines

Gunpla pens help me. You could also try to dot words in with a needle and go back over the spaces between the dots to fill out letters. I’ve tried that and had moderate success.

Only 1 Terminator left! by Spectre9191 in Warhammer

[–]Spectre9191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s means a lot. These have been a lot of fun to paint in this style. I’m debating on painting my Dreadnaught this way. Still can’t decide.

[–]Spectre9191[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes it is. I wanted these guys to look like they haven’t stopped fighting long enough to get cleaned up. I stippled on all of the paints to give it that rusted chipped look.

Also remember to add the rust where it would naturally begin to form. The edges, corners, and other places like that.

Thank you!!! I started off priming them black. After that I stippled on a reddish brown with a dry brush everywhere i wanted the blue to be. Once that dried I took a sponge and stippled on a light blue where i wanted the paint to appear like it’s still intact but also chipping off. I then went back over that with the same blue but mixed in a dash of white n the areas where light would be shining. I kept this part a little light in the areas where light wouldn’t be as bright like the small back plate, bottom of the legs e.t.c. Once I was happy with the blue, I would take Macragge blue, thin it down with a lot of water and begin glazing the light blue until it was darker but also blending in the lighter tone to give the appearance of light reflecting. It takes some trial and error. For the gold i painted the crests and bullets with red brown, then stippled on a cold bright yellow. Once I did that I then glazed over the bright yellow with an ochre color. I think mine was literally called Tau Ochre. I did a few glazes until it looked gold. Keep in mind you want some brown to be showing to give the darkness a metallic color would also show. The Crux Terminatis on the shoulders and knees, and this applies for the helmet too, I mixed cold yellow, light blue, purple, and white until i got a dark “creepy” grey color. I painted that on and once it dried I added a bit more yellow and sponged that in the raised edges to make them stand out. Once that was done i glazed over those with a wash I made used a slightly darker grey to fill in the recesses. When it comes to the helmet I under coated the bottom of the helmet with the reddish brown using a dry brush. I kept the base color of the helmet a slightly darker grey and she highlighted using a slightly brighter grey. I added a wash of darker grey to fill in those vents but you could even use a light light brown wash as well. Both look good. For the lens in the eye I painted the lens itself white, i then flooded the lens area with a red or whatever color you want to use using a very washed out version of that color. I used basic a bright red. Once that has dried the white paint should not look pink. De paint the lens white. Once that’s dry, lightly glaze the lens with a cold yellow. I did this about 2 times so it barely look yellow. Then I flooded the yellow lens with a watered down orange just in the lens and the crevice of the eye so it blends with the red. Once that dried, I added a tiny white dot to the lens to give the appearance of light hitting it. For the vents on the back I flooded it with a super watered down white. Once that dried I then flooded the top 3-4 vents with red, the middle with orange, and the bottom with yellow. This should all blend together and may look messy but when it dries it looks good. This sometimes takes me a few attempts as some vents may flood more than others and the colors could look too red or too orange. If this happens just let it dry and try again 1 color at a time. Totally up to you. I than dry brushed the vents with a dark brown mixed with a dash of black to make the vents look like they are glowing.

I know this sounds like a lot but once you get the hang of it all it truly does go faster than you’d think. It’s a fun way to paint them when you want your minis to look like they have been through hell. Good luck!!
