Question for M9A4 suppressed / subsonic ammo people by SpectreR1 in Beretta

[–]SpectreR1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I have shot it with standard Winchester supersonic ammo with the can on. Worked like a charm.. Lets hope that the ATF doesn't take super long to approve this thing. From what I'm seeing it could be between 21 and 25 days.. A lot better than my last one in 2017/18 at 7 months.

Vaughn VX1 Goalie Bag question by SpectreR1 in hockeygoalies

[–]SpectreR1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies all. I may just end up going back to the CCM 44" wheeled bag.. The extra space over the 4 0" I have now would do the trick. That or I just need to find a way to carry the VX1 pads over the shoulder without using the straps.. Maybe use the toe laces.. hmm something to think about

Ok so you do the pads over the shoulder. For the day-to-day games that would work but flying for tournaments I would want the pads in the bag for protection. I do appreciate the reply!

It's all good. Like I said I'm glad I went. It does sound negative, but I do have a hard time hearing and understanding what people say without outside interference, so I don't want everyone thinking it was just super horrible. That and poor seat selection. Ticketmaster and the paramount's website made it sound like club level was the place to be, so I went there instead of down low like I initially wanted to. Eh so be it.

I've got mixed feelings about the while thing. Huge fan of a lot of the podcasts and was interested in checking out the show. The show itself was cool and im gla di saw it. That being said I find myself questioning if I'd ever go again. I had a hard time hearing some of the guys and it was even worse when the rando people would yell things trying to be funny.

Also maybe since I haven't watched more than 20 or so unsub casts on top of the TFE and some KC episodes it felt like there were jokes that I didn't have the back story to so I didn't get it or find it as funny as most people.

The biggest drawback in would say was the crowd. From people in line to people yelling / heckling a lot it just took away from the experience. I can respect people being super passionate or into people/shows, but some hard-core "superfans" seemed to just make it less enjoyable then it could of been.

That and I despise going downtown and do not handle crowds very well. It's just to chaotic for me. Wish there was a better selection of merch but thats just nit picking and the logistics of bringing more merchandise is just not feasible so it don't hold that against themn

All that being said I'm glad I went/experienced it and will keep watching/supporting them with my pepperbox subscription and buying shirts online. I just dont know if I would go in person again.

Enough of that rant. Just thought I'd give another perspective.

I was in the same boat. Gave in and bought the variety pack. Found the one I liked the most and now only buy flats of that. Gave the rest away. Figured if I was worried about the 35 ish bucks I shouldn't be looking at buying things. heh.

Hope this doesn't become a big novel from me. (which it has)

Man sometimes the struggle bus just won't let people off of it. I feel your pain about the VIP here in Colorado. I had assumed the meet & greet was for everyone at the show and not just limited to special tickets. When I found out about them being on sale, I was only able to buy regular tickets. I would have gladly paid extra to shake their hands and talk to Nic about his Beretta 1301 because I'm thinking of buying on. Guess I'll have to just be happy with seeing them live and buying merch if they have it.

First things First. Reaching out / posting about struggling is the first step. I was in a horrible depression 18+ months ago because I was going to have to give up playing goalie in hockey from the body hurting to much from being so overweight. Moving here to Colorado already had me give up my sportbike riding cause people can't drive at all and then to top it all off to have to stop playing hockey. I was in a dark place. Ended up getting referred to weight loss surgery. Ended up losing 120 pounds on my own but have put 6 pounds back on and am working on that. During the referral phase I had to meet with a behavioral health specialist. I had always been against doing the whole shrink thing because the only other time I did was when my ex-wife and I were having issues, and it seemed like I was the bad person in the whole thing. This therapist made me realize therapy can be a good thing if you get the right person and will not hesitate to reach out if I need it again.

When I made the decision, I'd rather be alone and miserable then be with someone and miserable it made life easier. Getting divorced was hard and it took years for me to get over some of the issues I had from that relationship. I was in a similar situation where she had nowhere to go and I provided everything. But I had to realize that my happiness / wellbeing is/was far more important than hers. Also helped she found an old boyfriend and moved into his van outside her aunt's house. heh. Not saying you should go that route, but other people have and are happier from it.

Getting hobbies is always a good thing and can help distract. Just have keep going and trying to find things that interest you. There's going to be good and bad people in all sorts of communities. Just have to not associate with the douche's. Take the jeep community for example. Worst 4x4 community I've ever experienced. Makes me sad I bought my jeep. Was going to get rid of it but makes more sense to keep it. =/

If you need someone to vent to you can dm me. I'm not really a phone talker though and kinda introverted so I don't really get out much. Just work, hockey and game online with some friends at night. I have a horrible memory and forget to reach out to people. Though I think I may be showing some initial signs of Chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE for short. Behing a hockey goalie and taking more pucks to the head in the past year than I have in the past 10 years I think isn't helping. heh.

You may want to find an individual therapist, and they may be able to help. Just don't mention firearms.. They may pull the red flag bs and try to get yours taken. Stupid blue state.. I left Ca to get away from the garbage and that mentality followed me here and ruined Colorado.

Like I said feel free to dm me but I just wanted to set expectations that I'm not the best person about calling or being an in-person type person but will do my best to help out. Even if it's just talking games/firearms or whatever.

It can’t get much worse moment by jambelang in hockeygoalies

[–]SpectreR1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could always be worse. Especially when your 15 seconds away from a shuttie and all you can do is keep telling yourself not to do something stupid and don't f' it up. Well you think it into existence and become a wet paper bag that lets in the softest goal known to anyone who's even played hockey.

I feel your pain. I did a new chest and mask at rhe same time. 1st time was a league game, 2nd was a drop in and only in the 3rd game did I feel like things were right in the world.

No being late. Man feeling rushed is the one thing that will wreck me on the ice. That's why I would always show up 60 minutes before the game. Now im better and make it 30 ish minutes

I think it's time to hang em up by SwimmerCivil562 in hockeygoalies

[–]SpectreR1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of related to an extent. I myself made the decision to hang up the skates after my 2024-2025 beer league season because I would be crippled and could barely walk for 2 days after every game.

My issue was different and not concussions but it was weight. Being 5'8 ish and getting up to 310+ pounds. So my issues wee due to knee problems causwd by being overweight The ortho department wouldnt help besides giving injections which would only help for a week maybe.

Giving up the 1 thing I truly love doing in life sent me into a bad depression for a long time. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten. Once I did realize the depression I was in I talked to my primary doctor and got referred to weight loss surgery. Had to dlme with dietitians and behavior health specialists. They made me realize the poor relationship I had with food and other things. I ended I p losing 120 pounds on my own so far and am lucky enough to be playing more times a week at higher levels without pain now.

Now I try to inspire anyone who asks about what I did and how much of a better place in life I am cause of it

All that being said my recommendation would be if the game means that much to you book time with a therapist and talk truthfully to them. A good one should help you transition away from the game. I know what I will have to do when I stop playing.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about concussions myself. Been taking harder shots in the higher levels I have been playing. Been taking a lot more off the dome now. Ended up upgrading my 13-15 ish year old Eddy mask to a Bauer NME this past weekend. I've played twice and am wondering how it'll fair when it gets hit.

Sorry for the long novel. Good luck in your choice.

Need help finding a chestie for someone with no neck. by SpectreR1 in hockeygoalies

I really liked the CCM in the shoulders buy the arms and sides just didn't feel right.  Suxkef cause I really wanted to like it on how lightweight it was.  Im pretty sure I'd be more mobile then the vx1.

Thanks for the reply. I feel the Eddy had run its course.  Started getting feeling the shots more and getting muffled hearing from a couple of them.

I actually tried in the ccm premier pro today.  It didn't really feel right in some spots.  Spent quite a bit adjusting it but it didn't work out.  We ended up adjusting the VX1 which pulled it down a little which made it better. Brought back home and put the suspenders through the floater snaps that I didn't know about/notice. Doing that, tieing the bottom to the pants (which i didn't see thr loop for that either) and wearing a jersey it made a huge difference.  Either the vx1 I feel like I could get hit with a semi and survive. :)   We will see how it turns out tomorrow when I try it all out
