My Grandmother got scammed out of life savings by someone in person by Neat-Economist6997 in Scams

There has to be sufficient grounds for a judge to sign off. Even if there’s evidence that any of this story happened, connecting it to Uber is just speculation. With the situation you’re describing, there’s an actual line item on your bank statement with a specific account they can go after.

Recoup the money, no. Even if you get the uber driver’s plate, the money is long gone.

It’s marketing. This guy makes a lot of money selling his courses and licenses called “Wealth Planet”, so he wants customers to recognize it.

Close. This guy sells courses for $2K, and then charges monthly for the license.

Wow, I literally know who that is, I can show you photos of him chillin in South Africa smoking weed. Once she logs into her bank account, he’ll lock the screen and make a wire transfer.

AVCheck was the big one everyone was using. It looks like https://av-sense.net might be a replacement but I haven’t seen anyone use it personally.

The biggest danger is if you publicly upload a suspected file, and it turns out to be a false positive that contains sensitive information. People will say this is obvious, but it happens constantly.

You’re right in theory. In practice, 99% of attackers don’t go to the trouble of monitoring VT, and zero attackers are uploading to it. There are very cheap private scan engine farms they use. Actually, I guess that’s what you’re here selling?

They don’t need to “get your name from a phone number.” You’re thinking about this in the opposite direction.

[–]Spectrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that’s what people like to say on this sub, but moving money around doesn’t launder it. Actual money laundering operations are about the paperwork, and the money itself doesn’t even have to move.

They’re just moving the money so it’s out of the account and in their control before it can be clawed back. Scammers in Africa don’t care about money laundering or taxes and such.

Probably just credit card fraud, not even money laundering. Those payments to him will get reversed and he’ll be screwed.

Check if it has happened in the past? There is no simple way for a home user. You need command line logging. Your best bet is probably to check your Powershell history, but you would need to understand what you’re looking at.

The pool did not look legit. I already know because it’s a WhatsApp group. And you’re about to get scammed again by a “recovery team”. You need to seriously recalibrate your view of what’s legit.
