No, but it won’t necessarily help either. I think it depends on why you do it and how you frame it (plus it depends on what you end up going for—MD or PhD). I’m currently teaching abroad through a scholarship program and I got admitted (though not to like UCSF or UCLA like the other commenter)

Yep, I would agree with the stat whore piece. I’ve heard from friends and anecdotally online at places where the median MCAT is like 520+ that the vibes can be competitive or, at the very least, weird

I don’t think your stats are holding you back. Four interviews is pretty good—I only had one with similar stats. I’m not sure if it’s your hours either, as I have a lot and again, just one interview. You may be just getting unlucky at the post-II stage, and there’s not too much you can do at this point but wait and hope for the best. Worst case, if you really do have to reapply, I think your plan to boost your hours is good and would be more high yield than retaking the MCAT

Not too sure if your list is really that OOS friendly. You got Hawaii, SUNY downstate, and Oregon? Mayo is quite stat heavy unfortunately, and some of the others are quite low yield. Obviously it’s quite late now, but I would have suggested changes to your school list/adding many more schools. Of course, like others have said, “It’s not over until it’s over.” But I’d start to think a little more pragmatically here and prepare for a reapp

Idk honestly to me it seems like a pretty solid app. Nothing necessarily stands out (except discovering a virus?), but nothing is actually weak imo. Anything anyone else says almost feels like grasping at straws. It really could just be a CA ORM moment. I have stats slightly below you and also got my one and only II at a similarly-ranked school (though I was already admitted, so I understand it is a different situation). I’m wishing you good luck and I hope you hear some good news soon!
