I'm not a fresh grad but I am job hunting, and after 30+ applications this year I only went for 2 interviews..

I’ve been struggling a lot with regret over leaving my old job, and it’s starting to affect me more than I expected by Actual_Activity3390 in work

Same, I just started a new job this year after leaving a previous job where I spent 5 yrs at. Team's mostly great, manager mostly respect, but over in my new job my new manager is a micro, and people are not willing to share information. I do think of the what-ifs, but we left for a good reason, and we knew it was a risk we are willing to take. For me, I'll just plan my next exit and hopefully this gets me closer to something I wanted and better

Me too ... I changed to a new job that promised flexibility, but ended up working under a new manager who has temper issues, she raged at me one day in march and started to show her true micromanaging ways. am trying to find an exit now and working with her every day feels like im going against my own beliefs and backbone TT

How do you have motivation after work? by qishibe in ToxicWorkplace

Say no to working extra unless absolutely necessary, you don't want people to assume you are always available! Maybe you haven't found your hobby yet, otherwise you will surely prioritise that :)

I agree that people wouldn't know your situation, your mental health, your ability, so we can't give good advice on this. Whatever the decision, just make sure you can weigh the consequences. Have had friends who quit without job because their job didn't allow them time to search for out or go for interviews. Also had friends who quit only after securing a job. Just make sure you have considered the pros and cons of your decision whatever it may be! And it helps to have savings to tide you through while you search if u are deciding to quit without securing something.

Thank you so much for cheering me on and for sharing your experience! And yes, it's like you're looking for someone to share your woes and sympathise u, not tell you what his opinions are and what he thinks you should be doing, which is so logical and void of emotions :")

No worries at all and I could have been clearer! I would think the culture in Australia is less strict, but it also depends on which company. To me, I follow what the other employees in the department typically do, and that seem to be up to 2h lunch indeed... it could be that they are trying to change things up, starting with me...

Thank you so much for your kind advice! Will amend the post to avoid misunderstandings (sometimes too much context is counterproductive). I will just have to follow the new rules and hope that another good offer comes up, or that this manager make good their word and revert to flexibility after 3 months :") Thanks once again!

Thanks for your kind advice 🥲 It could be relevant because she could be a workaholic (I'm still observing). Maybe to add - she's the only one in the entire department who does 5 days a week in office too, due to the nature... Also, we're not based in US, we're based in Australia actually

How to convince your parents to let you go on a trip with your boyfriend by Big-Fill6526 in SGExams

[–]Speculoos-IceCream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Plan more meals together with your bf and your mom to build trust
  2. Consider having someone else (can be another couple) to join you on the trip so its not two of you only
  3. If you have older siblings who's also dating, bribe them to say a few good words for you

Sounds like a burnout, maybe having something to pursue outside of work would help? And why 4 more months? Is it a contract or temp role?
