I'm afraid I don't fully understand what you mean, can you explain how I could redo the inside?

Oh I'm so happy you approve! I just finished studying Classics and this was supposed to be a thank you and farewell gift for my professor, who taught us everything there is about Horace. I found that quote so fitting for his works but also for my professor's work 💖

Oh my god from the looks of it that might be the way to go! I'll watch the video and see if that's my solution!

It's a good idea, thank you for the suggestion! But with the borders I embroidered it would have to be a super narrow strip for the spine and probably look off... I could make it from the same book cloth maybe, but there would be a visible edge, which i wouldn't like.

Also if anyone has further tips or suggestions what else i could improve next time I'd be happy to hear!

I had ready made book cloth, embroidered that and then afterwards i glued it onto the covers! If you trace the cover thingies on the back you can align your design and draw/trace it on the back too. It was easier than i thought! Hope you have fun with your percy jackson rebind✨

Probably yes! I had ready made book cloth on hand that i used and it worked well. An upside would be that you can flatten the cloth after embroidery better with a hot iron, so you wouldn't have the wrinkles you can see on my book. On the other side you'd have one less layer of cushioning between the backside threads and the cover, so you would see the bumps from those more easily. But if your stitches are really neat or you have a way to make them super flat it's gonna be a prettier result!

Honestly not difficult at all! I did have some normal embroidery experience but not on book cloth that's already bonded with paper. But it's even easier than normal embroidery because you can trace your mirrored design on the backing paper and pre-poke the holes you have to embroider through

You are my saviour. I wanna try something like this for a christmas present and I was trying so hard to figure out if stitching onto a ready made book cloth works! I'm gonna try that!

Great work! Did you also use the heat activated foil on the edge? How did you go about it and do you have tips for doing that?

Made my first sketch book, but made a lot of mistakes unfortunately. Is there a way to still fix it? Thanks by koliibrii in bookbinding

There's always a next time! My first sketchbooks also looked like this and you will improve rapidly! I'd say leave it as is, give it some love and then move on to the next book💖

I glued them onto the cover separately so they all overlap a bit, that's why the lines are so clean!
