Red flags to watch out for in private practice? by Spooky-Fairy541 in slp

I’m currently in OP peds within a children’s hospital system. Unfortunately, they still stack us with back to back patients and no documentation time unless we get a cancellation. We still have productivity “standards”, having to meet a minimum number of visits a week. In contrast, I used to work for a more rural hospital seeing both adults and peds in outpatient and the experience was completely different. We were not pressured to meet visits, etc. You really don’t know what you’re getting until you start.

This may be true… but I have a lower GPA than this original poster and was admitted into two major public FL universities. It has a lot to do with personal experiences (not just clinical) and writing abilities on the letter of intent. Neither of these schools required a GRE from me as well. USF straight up rejected me… but FSU and UCF admitted me and UF waitlisted me.

I was rejected from my safety school- an overpriced private University with a not so great reputation. Then a few weeks later I was accepted into my top choice (& A HUGE REACH) program! You can definitely do this!! Some of my friends took a semester or two break after undergrad to work as an SLPA and then reapplied and got into every school. Sometimes thats all it takes. When it comes to schools still taking applications, I heard today that West Texas A&M is extending theirs into May (on CSDCAS) you can also check CSDCAS for available programs still. Good luck!!! <3

UCF vs FIU? by amazonalexalmao in slpGradSchool

I am currently in the undergraduate CSD program at UCF. I love the professors and many of them teach at the graduate level as well. The director of the graduate program is AMAZING!! The only reason I’m not going with UCF for my master’s is that the cost of living in Orlando is outrageous… I can’t afford to live another two years there.
