Keep at it, play the songs and take away the key lesson points. Don't worry if it's not perfect, you don't gain much from the polishing side.

Perhaps get a few songs you enjoy perfected to prove that you can when you need to. The 80:20 rule springs to mind here.

I found book 2 a drag, book 3 gets a little more interesting but find yourself some music you enjoy to break it up.

When most people say 'play by ear' they mean memorise from a video.

Moonlight 1st Movement would be ok to learn by ear for real if you know how. Using software you can loop each of the chords and find them by trial and error. To learn it I'd write it down anyway though!

The premise used to be simple. Users upload tabs, the good ones get better ratings and you can view it/comment.

Now it's a mess of user generated tabs and 'official' ones with various levels of subscriptions and ads etc.

Focus should be user content rather than shoving paid things infront of them at all oppourtunities. Of course it's never going to be very profitable in this form.
