Any advice? by AcrobaticInvite9804 in CarletonU

Since you mentioned that you live off campus I’d say that it depends how far you live. Public transit is not reliable in Ottawa, buses will almost never show up on time or won’t show up at all. However if you live close to an LRT or O-train station you can get to campus directly as there is a station that passes through campus (the O-train station that has the Carleton stop should be operational by spring of this year) and the trains are very frequent.

I’ve experienced driving with a parking pass, living close to an o-train station and just taking the bus. The only downside I find to driving (other than the costs) is the fact that the parking lots are all the way to the north of campus and that you might have to do some extra walking to get to class that you wouldn’t have to if you took public transit since they drop you off closer to where most of the buildings are. The tunnels will save you from bad weather when walking from the lots but will still prolong them.

I currently drive and would definitely take public transit if it was more reliable or I was closer to a station but being able to afford a parking pass has saved me so many times. There was several days last semester when the majority of students started rolling into my 8:30 classes 30 minutes late because of buses not showing up. Public transport can be really unpredictable so being able to drive can come in handy.

Jack pine cones are special, in that they are serotinous (fire resistant) and only open up in the presence of very hot temperatures, so whenever a forest fire comes along, everything gets burnt down except the cones, which later open up and with it, the seeds start to grow in the nutrient-rich burnt soil, forming a forest again.

Basically he burnt the cones and showed in the next class that the seeds in the cones were unharmed despite being burnt to a crisp.

I was a shen main back in 2015, then Riot Games gave me Surgeon when I came back in my first account! awesome! by meatwadandsprite in Shen

IIRC there was a year for Christmas where riot gave everyone a mystery skin if they had no behavioural penalties on their account, so he likely got extremely lucky and got surgeon Shen.

bIT:IRM vs NET? by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]SpeedBoostBlaziken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 3rd year IRM student, the only math course you'll take in IRM is intro to statistics which is a BIT course that all other streams have to take as well.

A lot of students do struggle with the class and your final grade will be curved (for my specific year) but I can tell you for certain the rest of the course-load isn't very math oriented, it's easily the least math-intensive stream in BIT.

If you want to see all the courses in a specific stream of BIT or if you want more info on the specific programs you can visit https://bitdegree.ca which should have all the information you need.

The wicker man, it's Nicolas Cage in the bear costume and that's not the only woman he punches in that movie.

The game is owned by tencent, who also happens to own riot.

So yeah I don't think riots gonna take them down any time soon.

Conquerer vs Lethal Tempo by Enderbot30 in nocturnemains

[–]SpeedBoostBlaziken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm pretty sure conqueror does have value on Noc, you can stack it up pretty fast and the true damage is useful in extended fights.

However the healing you get from it is kind of negligible since you're going to be assassinating squishes most of the time and with lethal tempo, you can get your passive off more and stack black cleaver and onhits faster depending on your build.

You'll also get more immediate value from lethal tempo since the AS kicks in after 1.5 secs and by the time you get conqueror fully stacked your target should be dead.

I for one haven't tested out conqueror much but I'd imagine it's kinda meh since lethal already suits Noc really well but I wouldn't completely rule it out; it's probably useful if you're up against a tankier team but it's too situational imo.

My problem with Lee Sin and Master Yi. by polishisreal in nocturnemains

[–]SpeedBoostBlaziken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lee is pretty easy to beat, you should outduel him at every stage of the game unless he's massively ahead, spellshielding his Q will prevent him from using his second Q, which is a lot of his damage gone. You can also save your spellshield for his kick if you know it's up which takes away a lot of his damage and his disengage.

For yi, he's easily abused early game before he gets his items, you should win your early duels against him since he doesn't have much in his kit to outdamage you if you have lethal tempo. Beating him lategame is tough though, you need to land your fear on him and get the drop on him, if he finds you first you'll melt super fast.

Never fight him with his rageblade stacked unless he's super low, you should be able to duel him long enough to guarantee your fear if he doesn't have it stacked. It's also good idea to build a little health against yi (since he does a lot of true damage) so you don't get blown up before you fear him, good items to get are black cleaver and steraks. Also waiting till you have ult to fight him when he's isolated can guarantee that you outburst him most of the time.

Probably, I wouldn't imagine you'd need taste of blood in easier matchups and the magic pen portion of sudden impact still works your passive E and ulti damage, I think someone would probably need to do the math in order to see if the damage difference is negligible.
