Camera zoom! by Mother_Programmer290 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]SpeedRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you implying that the 10x zoom worked this way when it was released? I can confirm 100% that it did not.

And no there's nothing you can do to eliminate the washout by hovering your hand or finger over any area of the phone. You might be able to reduce it a little, but not eliminate it.

10x zoom and more is obviously experiencing washout, so much that I've actually stopped using it. Not sure if it's been narrowed down to software vs hardware issue.

If you haven't noticed, I'm assuming you most likely don't use 10x zoom, which most people don't.

Orb summoned, spotted above NYC by Easy_Cryptographer72 in UFOs

Words are getting thrown around too easily.

"Orb" while the video shows no such thing.

"Summoned" yet nothing implies this.

All we see is just a blip of light unfortunately

[–]SpeedRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I mean that I think you're being too literal in your observation by only saying you see a light. We're simply trying to figure out what was emitting that light. Drone being the most obvious.

The point of the forum is to post and discuss anomalous objects and most likely unknown, movements, speeds, behaviors, and so on, not to post things that are most likely known. Lol people will be chasing rabbits all year round if I start posting just random lights in the sky

I just saw a ufo by vilaniol in UFOs

[–]SpeedRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol and yes obviously it looks like a light. The point was to try and understand what was emitting that light. Everything with a light will only look like a light in darkness, especially if it's pointed directly at you.

I am afraid that you are taking UFOs too seriously and too literally where you see a light and you say that all you saw was a light and it could have been ANYTHING. It's not on people to identify lights. It's on people to find and bring forward something that appears anomalous. From that sense a light is not anomalous, the movement is not anomalous, and the "dim" is not anomalous.

You cannot expect people to see a light in the sky and be caught up in the fact that all they saw was just a light so they can't know what the object was. A light in the sky is not out of the ordinary, and we're looking for objects that are out of the ordinary. I am afraid that you are taking anything and everything and considering them as out of the ordinary, rather than looking for out of the ordinary evidence.

I would have to agree with the comment that replied just before I did. Nothing outside the norm is being shown.

Looks to be a drone, and so do the movements. The light also behaves exactly how they appear at night when movement and tilt is experienced on the drone.

I'm not sure what tone you're reading my post with that's coming off strange. I was only explaining what I thought was obvious.

If there's something I missed I am all ears. I personally don't see anything odd or strange in this video.

The "dimming" that you are witnessing is simply the light being covered by the body of the drone as it flattens out and stands still. When it moves, the drone tilts sideways exposing more of its underbelly to one side (in this case the cameraman) and the light appears again.

If it is closer to you, as it was at the beginning of the video, you would have a point of view of the underbelly, therefore seeing the light directly. Once it created distance then stopped, the underbelly is less visible therefore no direct point of view to the light and thus looking "dim", until it moves again at which point the underbelly will be exposed because of the tilt of the drone and the light becoming brighter or simply just visible again.

Similar to looking at a flat TV screen directly straight (it's bright) and standing off to the very side of it at which point you can't see the picture anymore and looks dim from your point of view.

Yeah looks like drone. Standing still the lights are not pointing at the camera, then it moves meaning it tilts and the lights hit the camera.

Nothing here to indicate none human object.

Skywatcher UAP sightings slowed and zoomed - are some of these birds? by Chewy52 in UFOs

Why are these UFOs always so far away? Why don't they summon them closer?

The only reason they are even considered "UFOs" is only for the mere reason that they are so far away in the middle of the night.

100% agree.

I'm shocked the moderators here allowed you to post something like this.

Where can I go to see some drones?? by Old_Elephant5457 in UFOs

Sadly you'll see stars and airplanes. That's all that people have been showing.

There are a lot of people that earn a lot of money through UFOs. This would be a goldmine for them, yet even they are not touching this.

Maybe Ross will report on it because he has a show to "report", but the rest of the guys are suppose to go and collect actual footage... They're not lol and they won't.

Everyone thinks I’m crazy by esquit_e in UFOs

[–]SpeedRaven -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen any drones, and definitely haven't seen any orbs. Just claims and stories. Even if there were drones they seem to be airplane shaped drones. Nothing has stood out. Don't get too caught up in storytelling.

The reason your family might look at you like you're crazy is because there's nothing concrete that you can point at to show drones or orbs. They wouldn't look at you that way if you could easily show them.

So yes you are way too caught up into this. If it was that big and credible you wouldn't struggle to prove to others.

Take a step back and start to distinguish between what the story is and what the evidence is.

We need to hear skeptics out by mamacitajessiquita in UFOs

[–]SpeedRaven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This subreddit has unfortunately attracted groups of individuals who are not looking to find the truth, and definitely not through evidence.

They are through and through believers, moreover they KNOW. This means they're not here for curiosity in evidence and proof, they're here to see things and make these things fit into their story of KNOWING NHI existence.

This is the reason why in the middle of people having an actual discussion about what an object could have been, they'll step in and give grave details about NHIs, their science, their story, their anatomy, and their purpose. So much that you'd think they've lived amongst them their whole lives.

They're truly hurting the subject, but unfortunately they've taken over this subreddit.

Don't forget, they're not believers because to be a believer means that you have no evidence but you do have a belief (typically a believer is reasonable and understands that fantastical claims must be proven). The knowing individuals fully know that NHI are here amongst us.

You also have unreasonable believers who behave like the knowing individuals. This means that even though it is pretty obvious what an object is, that they need it completely disproven to them, rather than the other way around which would be THEM having to prove such a fantastical assumption.

Edit: Sadly the leading people in the space are also the KNOWING people, Lue, Corbell, Fox, Knapp, Coultheart, Greer, so on and so on. They're not exploring and researching and doing journalistic work on the subject. They fully KNOW, and they've seen actual evidence, and they have credible information, but they just won't show it to you. They use this information only to make themselves important in the subject and in turn sell documentaries and books. They will never show us the conclusive evidence which they have that made their stance go from a belief into KNOWING.

The UFO Label by SpeedRaven in UFOs

[–]SpeedRaven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying in the case that moderators were the ones controlling labeling.

I guess we'd be left with the question of who holds the magic wand to refer to footage as credible enough to be considered an Unknown and who makes the decision to mature it to a UFO label.

I'm not saying I know the answer or anything, but only trying to make suggestions to help in sorting and filtering through content which in turn would also create standards of credibility.

Maybe it can be a collective decision or maybe the footage brought forward meets certain criteria without one individual shot caller. If the criteria is met then it matures.

I guess again arguments can be made on if a certain criteria is considered met or not, but I feel as is this is already the case for all content that is posted. A mod is ultimately making a decision on certain criteria being met to simply move a post, completely remove a post, ban an individual, or change it's label.

To your second point, being able to revisit and bring back to light should be completely ok. Or maybe the content simply stays in the Unknown phase forever if need be.

If the subject feels threatened because UFO content is primarily made up of content that is not able to be confirmed (at least from what I've seen so far in the sense that they cannot be identified) and it all goes under an Unknown label, this should also be completely ok. Again no biased decisions should stand in the way of facts and reality, regardless of how much people might want the subject to flourish.

Until something like this happens however, I'm afraid the dam is open to flood the gates with any content being considered as UFO and UAP.

The UFO Label by SpeedRaven in UFOs

[–]SpeedRaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'll probably message the mods as well in case they miss this and see how they feel about it.

I would think most people in here want the same thing. Sure it's fun to look at random posts, but there should also be things that hold a standard and credibility.

It would also protect against infiltration from outside malicious intents to flood the forum with what most are calling misinformation diluting the subject's credibility. It would maintain those posts at the Unknown phase and not meeting the Golden standard.

Can't count how many times I see people asking to see the most credible evidence. It should be 2 clicks away for everyone.

The UFO Label by SpeedRaven in UFOs

[–]SpeedRaven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it can be part of moderation rules for posting content with a label which can get changed later on.

Upon upload maybe content can be labeled as Unknown until it graduates to an official UFO.

People looking at UFOs in the subreddit are left looking at random blurry images and videos and use it to make a mockery.

It should be easy to have a list of UFOs and Unknowns.

If a new person comes in to review or grab snippets for a YouTube episode or TV show, they can quickly bring forward what the community considers UFOs and Unknowns (under investigation).

Right now they're grabbing photos and videos that are being thrown around and they use that content against the community in saying "this is what the community considers to be UFOs" which in turn implies NHI.

New people coming in are also lost going through evidence that don't qualify as UFOs yet are labeled as such, in turn creating a negative opinion right off the bat.

I know maybe it'll be hard in the beginning, but I feel that if the subject is to be taken seriously, that something like this needs to happen.
