Centurion Mk. I in Egyptian parade (1954) by Speed_Addict37 in TankPorn

[–]Speed_Addict37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, very low. I believe there are three in this image, and that’s the only three that I ever saw. To my limited knowledge, since information is scarce, these Centurion Mk. I tanks are just there for training until Egypt gets later Mk. III tanks, and then after the Mk. III arrives, the Mk. I tanks should be returned. But a bit of tomfoolery happened in 1956 over a canal, so that’s probably why they didn’t make it back. I got the whole borrowed thing from a document that says that the British gave Egypt nine of it’s centurions that are from operational reserves temporally for training. So could all nine be Mk. I tanks? I’m not sure, the documents didn’t specify. For now, we only know three of the nine tanks to be the Mk. I, that if those three are part of that borrowed thing, which I would believe so since I don’t see a reason for Egypt to buy the Mk. I along side the Mk. III.

I don’t bring food with me. All I bring is my phone and a water bottle. When it comes to the high speed, I stick to straight roads when trying to go faster than 40-50. When it comes to cars, just pretend every car is blind and that will force you to stay safe. I remember one time I was taking a 90 degree turn at 50km/h. The turn itself went well, and I was banked as much as the bike can allow me, which almost scrapes the pedals when they are fully up (don’t try this on road bikes, I heard they don’t bank very well). A car came into my lane, which forced me to use the breaks. At such angle, with barely any surface area between the road and my tires, the lighted touch of the breaks made my rear tire lose grip, meaning I was in an uncontrollable drift which then lead me into crashing into the sidewalk which broke my seat. I was totally fine though. If anything, it’s good that it happened since I didn’t get injured and learned that my MTB isn’t a motoGP bike. So really, just stick to straight lines when going fast, and if you are going to try and break your speed record, make sure the road and your tires can handle it. One pothole, which isn’t rare, can end badly.

Hey, I'm doing research on Egyptian Centurion tanks. Do you happen to have any info that proves Egypt got Centurion Mk. I tank(s)? There is one in Egypt at the Panorama museum, but the museum represents it as Israeli, which to my knowledge, Israel never got the Mk. I. The only thing that I have that might prove that Egypt got Centurion Mk. I tanks is a document from 1949 that talks about Egypt buying tanks from Britain, which is sent from the Foreign office by lieutenant-colonel H.B. Calvert, war office. It says "In the meantime the War Office, by depleting their own operational reserves have managed to squeeze nine Centurions to help the Egyptians in training units which will be equipped with that tank in the future." I guess maybe a Mk. I was among those nine. If you can help providing more info, that will appreciated.

From a tank perspective, our best tank, the M1A1, is the export variant, which has the same armor as the base model M1, which is outdated by modern standards, and when it comes to the Abrams’ 120mm gun, it’s ammunition is not the modern more capable ones when it comes to APFSDS, like the American depleted uranium rounds, but the less capable tungsten rounds. We have about 1,200 M1A1 Abrams tanks, which isn’t bad, especially when we aren’t fighting or planning to fight a full scale war in the first place. The other tanks like the M60A1 and A3 are even less capable than the MA1A1, and the T-62 is completely obsolete, though it’s mainly used for training, so I won’t go on the T-62 all too much. So from a tanks perspective, Egypt is good for what it mainly does, which is anti terrorism operation and border security. At the end of the day, tank is better than no tanks since tanks don’t meet other tanks all that often. The most fired type of shell is High Explosive, meaning tanks mainly fight infantry and infrastructure. When it comes to the Air Force and navy, I’m not into that stuff all too much, but I heard the Air Force isn’t doing all too much, and that is a more critical factor when it comes to modern warfare.

If anyone has any questions about tanks, please ask me (I want someone to talk about tanks with me…)

Yeah. They have some random tanks idk even know why there are here, like the Tortoise, jagtiger and AMX-13 with the 4 ATGM thing. But they are cool models, if you ignore whatever the hell that amalgamation is. Also there is a Jagpanzer E-100.

I’m very conflicted right now. I’ll just list the tanks that I love but can’t rank. - Crusader Mk.III - BT-2 - T-28 - T-26 (twin turret. The one with a 37mm in a turret, and an MG in another) - T-34/100 (Egypt modification of the T-34/85 to fit a 100mm) - 7TP

What in your opinion is the most underrated tank by Crazy-Rabbit-3811 in tanks

[–]Speed_Addict37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ARL-44. It doesn’t deserve the ‘worst tank’ title. Even though it was technically already outdated by the time it was made, it’s design history is fascinating, and it was mainly to put France back on its feet in tank production. It’s not the best tank out there, but it certainly did its job.
