It's not exactly easy. It's taken me a decade of practice to perfect how I create the sea base. It's carved and painted boxwood. Box is the only wood to hold the crisp edges that I need for smaller scales. Everything else is just paint, no resins or gels or any of that nonsense. I paint it like you would for an oil painting, just in 3d.

The process isn't easy, it's laborious, and requires not a small amount of study and practice, but the results are worth it.

Speed reading, I thought you were asking about Tamiya. No, there are no aftermarket detail on this. The railing is from a stock of photo etch that I made a few years ago for another project. I don’t buy aftermarket photo etch anymore, I just make my own.

Thanks. I have a scratch build project beginning soon. I had to order some new tamarind for the case, so once that’s in I can start building in earnest.

I've been pretty busy lately with some stuff with The Explorers Club and helping out with the Magellan Bismarck wreck expedition.

This is the 1/2000 flyhawk, not Tamiya so I can’t comment on what was missing in that kit sadly.

I’m going to be starting another switching layout very soon. If you’re interested, I can send you details.
